Chapter 4

We walk into the house, cautiously. Nothing seems to be out of order, but you can never be too cautious, especially when you've got a pair of nasty fallen angels after you. We impatiently wait for my mom to get home, then I hear here pulling into the driveway.

Abby comes in the door, "Haven, who are these people?" she asks, confused, I would be too if there were two strange people sitting in her living room.

"There friends of the family," my mom explains while scooting Abby into the kitchen.

"No mom, she needs to know. Bring her back in," I shout to my mom.

She brings Abby back into the room, "You sure about this, Haven," she asks.

"What's going on?" Abby asks.

"Abby, you need to be extra careful now. There are people that are after me, and they might use you against me," I start to explain.

"Why are they after you?"

"Because of my dad. He's not normal, and neither am I."

"What are you talking about?"

"Riley, Drake, show her," I order.

They both pull off their shirts, which I'm not complaining about, and a beautiful pair of slender black wings appear behind them, "This is what she's talking about," Drake tells her.

"I'm just like them, just like my dad. Except I haven't gotten my wings yet, and when I do, it's going to be bad. There are going to be more people after me," I explain.

Then, Abby, stomps her feet around in a circle, "Mommy! I want wings!" she demands, and I am shocked at this.

"Abby, this isn't something you just get. Having these wings isn't a good thing, you don't want to be like me," I tell her.

"But, I want wings too. I wanna be able to fly around," she complains.

"Abby. Listen to me. You. Won't. Get. Wings. We don't have the same dad."

"But, it's not fair."

"Abby, nothing's fair. Hopefully you'll learn that one day, but for now go do your homework," I tell her.

She walks into the kitchen and sits down at the table and starts to do her homework. I envy her sometimes, her life is so simple, so innocent. I wish my life was that simeple, but it's not and I can't change anything about it. Suddenly there's a knock at the door, someone I've never seen before is standing there.

"Should I go open it?" I ask.

"No. I will," Drake tells me, "You stay back."

I ignore him and follow him as he slowly walks towards the door.

"Can I help you?" he asks.

"I'm looking for Haven," it's a guy's voice that I hear, I stand on my toes and get a glimpse of his face.

"Who are you?" Drake asks.

"I'm looking for Haven," he repeats.

"Well, I want to know who you are," Drake replies sternly.

"My name isn't important, finding Haven is."

I move from behind Drake to face the man in the doorway, "I'm Haven," I tell him.

"Haven," he says to himself.

"Yeah, that's me. Want to tell me why you're here?" I ask.

He ignores me and walks into my house like he lives here. He walks into the living room and picks up a piece of paper and a pen, then starts writing.
