Chapter 6
"Tanner! What are you doing here?!" I ask elated.
He pushes past Drake, who is looking very, very confused, and rushes towards me.
"Haven, thank God you're okay!"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I ask.
"Well, you just dissappeared."
"Oh yeah. Sorry 'bout that, I actually just woke up," I explain.
"Haven, who is this?" Drake asks.
"Oh, this is Tanner. He goes to my school, he's one of us. Tanner just got his wings today," I tell them.
"Really? Tanner. Why does that name seem so familar? What's you last name?" Drake asks.
"Leon."
"Your Orin's brother. Figures you look like him. Are you sure we can trust him?" he asks me.
"Yeah, we can trust him, I know I do," I tell him.
"All right. I trust your judgement, Haven."
"Thanks. But who knows how good my judgement will be, with everything going on now," I explain.
Riley walks up to me and takes my hand, "It's okay. We'll get through this."
But as he takes my hand, I start to see something.
I see Riley, he's in the forest with Drake. He walks up to Riley and whispers something into his ear, but I can't hear what he said. Then I see Milo come behind Riley with a knife. He stabs Riley, then turns to Drake and they laugh. They laugh at the sight of Riley's dead body.
I turn to Drake, "Get out of my house," I order.
"What?" he asks confused.
"And to think I trusted you. Get out!"
He walks out the door confused. But I can tell he's just acting.
"What was that?" Riley asks.
"I saw Milo kill you, Drake was there and he laughed. He laughed at your dead body," I explain.
"But the future can change, can't it?" Tanner asks.
"Sometimes, but like my dad said the future can't always be changed. But, I'm surprised that you couldn't tell he was lying, Tanner."
"Why?"
"Your ability. You can always see the truth," I explain.
"I can?"
"Yeah, it's probably because you're young. Well younger."
"Well, I want to see if you can get a read off me," he challenges.
"Okay, I'll try," I tell him and walk up to him then place my hand on his face.
I see him at my dad's house, he's there with Orin, this is bad. Orin takes a swing at Tanner, and hits him right in the jaw. He falls to the ground, I notice Milo standing in the room as well. Why isn't Tanner fighting back? But then I see that he can't, his hands are bound together.
Orin stops and Milo asks, "Where is she?"
He stays quiet and just lays there, Orin kicks him in the ribs.
"I don't know where she is!" he shouts through the pain.
"I'm right here, I was just out for a walk," I explain while walking into the room.
"Haven, you need to let me know where you are, at all times, especially in your condition," Milo tells me.
"No, I'm not going to let it happen."
