Whines filled the air, some saying that they were going to go back to their own country, some saying that they had no time for this. But the din was dispersed as America stepped up, Canada and France behind him. His face was dead serious, and every nation stopped.
"You're probably wondering why we brought you back here," America started, and many nations nodded in agreement. "Well, we're going to tell you..."
Canada was visible, but no nation asked, "Who are you?" Because they remembered, even for a moment, who he was. Canada would've been overjoyed, except that he was preoccupied with a thought so depressing. "England... England... He's..."
Every nation held their breath. They were all curious why the man was not there. Why he didn't come. But no country expected the three words, the words that would bring surprise to many.
"He is dead." France finished, earning gasps of surprise and bewilderment from the crowd of countries.
"What?" someone in the crowd asked, and America turned to face Prussia.
"England is.. he is dead. Commited suicide."
"Why?" a simple question. But there was no simple answer to this. There was no simple answer to anything. Everything had a reason to go with it, yet those reasons were never so simple.
"We... we were wondering that, too..." Canada said, and tears began forming in his eyes. France hugged him as big drops began cascading down his pale face, dampening his clothes.
"Here's a letter that Angleterre left us. I... I don't know how to explain it," France said, and Canada handed the letter to America for him to read.
He began immediately. His eyes were red, and as he spoke, his voice was dry and forced out.
"Dear nations..." he began. (the contents are going to be on another chapter, so wait for it :D)
"From Arthur Kirkland, personification of England." he finished, and when he looked around, and to say that many were shocked was the understatement of the century; and believe me when I say this.
The simple question was answered.
"No, he can't be." "He... he..." "I can't... I can't-" "No!" "Why?"
If this letter wasn't written, everyone would've been fighting for his land, greedy and happy that he wasn't there to protect his own country from others. But all they did, and all they could've done, was to stare at the letter in America's hands with sad, regretful eyes, some filling with tears, and some just bewildered.
If they had the choice, if they noticed, if they realized... If they just knew, if they were told, if they were informed of this, if they paid attention more...
Do you think that they would've done the same thing?
