After the explosion, Clint has been left with the duty of taking care of the gauntlet because the spaceship had sent its own army of aliens into the fallen building. Instead of just protecting the stones from Thanos, he was running through the tunnels of the compound and trying to outrun an army of aliens that were at his heels. No one had realised that the Nebula that had returned after the time heist was actually the Nebula from the past and she had been the one to bring Thanos with his army to the compound so that he could retrieve the stones in one go. Not only wiping out the world's population but also taking down the Avengers before they became a real threat to him. He sends his daughter, which no one knows is on his side, back into the compound to find the stones and waits patiently for the Avengers to come to him. Thanos knew that they wanted him dead and he was ready for whatever fight was coming to him.

Inside the rubble and the debris, Tony wakes up, already battered and bruised which was a shame because the fight hadn't even begun yet. He searched through the debris of the compound and found Steve, who also wasn't looking great after the surprise attack, and together they headed through the dirt to find Thor. He didn't seem affected by the explosion and was watching Thanos from a shaded area, waiting for whatever move he was going to make. Steve was surprised that Thor hadn't gone into the fight head first, something that he would have done five years earlier; maybe he was finally learning that he needed to work as part of a team to get things done? "What's he been doing?"

"Absolutely nothing." Thor answered, not taking his eyes off the alien because he was sure that if he looked away, then he would be attacked and taken down once again.

"Where are the stones?" Steve wondered, noticing that this Thanos didn't have any of the stones and that meant that the Avengers still had an advantage in the fight.

"Somewhere under all this." Tony explained, glad that they had kept hold of the gauntlet when everything collapsed because if they hadn't then Thanos would have the stones once again and the outcome would be even worse than last time. "All I know is he doesn't have them."

"So, we keep it that way."

Thor shook his head, smiling at their naive attitude because he knew Thanos better than anyone and knew that this was all part of his plan. "You know it's a trap, right?"

"Yeah." Tony shrugged, having enough of the games and just wanting to take down their enemy for the pain that he had caused them over the last five years. "I don't much care."

"Good. Just as long as we're all in agreement." Thor agreed, thunder began crackling from the sky and he yielded his power to start the fight against Thanos; not only having his axe as his weapon but also his hammer. "Let's kill him properly this time." Tony said strongly and they agreed silently, walking towards him but feeling slightly confused when he didn't move; he didn't even look up at them as he started talking.

"You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me. I thought by eliminating half of life, the other half would thrive. But you've shown me that's impossible. And as long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be. They will resist."
