After leaving Charlie's the night before, you spent the night rambling on angrily to your sister over the phone.

She mostly just told you to go to bed and that she would talk to you about in the morning, but you unfortunately had to go back to work the next morning.

And it was awkward to say the least.

By the time you were stepping through Charlie's front door, he was stepping out, only murmuring a small "hullo" to you before getting into his car.

You'd admit, his cold shoulder stung a little, but you couldn't forgive him for what he said the night before. For him to call you a stranger after having sex with you hit you hard.

Charlie wasn't the only one who seemed off too. Henry had a whole bunch of question of his too, which he pestered you with all day.

"Did you and daddy have a fight last night?" Henry asked you, looking up from his plate of lunch you had made him.

Your eyes snapped down towards him, brows furrowing. "How do you know about that?" You asked him.

He just gave you a shrug. "I saw you guys fighting last night and then you left. You guys woke me up." He answered.

You let out a small sigh, nodding. "Yeah, sorry about that, Henry." You apologized. You felt guilty.

You could remember being his age, watching and hearing your parents fight. The only difference was that their fights were a lot more violent, and someone always ended up hurt.

But you still understood the stress Henry must have felt. You wondered if Charlie and Nicole ever fought in front of him like that.

"What did daddy say to you to make you sad?" Henry asked next, his voice becoming a softer murmur.

Your mouth turned into a sad smile. You weren't sure if there was a right way to describe it.

"He just said some hurtful things, but it's okay. I'm not going to lose my job if that's what you're worried about." You told the small boy, fingers picking away at your own sandwich you had made for lunch.

You saw his eyes light up. "I don't think daddy would fire you anyways, he likes you." He confessed to you, a smug grin on his small face.

Your eyes snapped towards Henry, a brow cocking ever so slightly. Of course Charlie liked you, hell, he fucked you just the other night. You just didn't realize Henry would catch on so quick.

"Oh yeah? Did he tell you that?" You questioned.

Henry just shrugged once more. He took a large bite of his own sandwich, chewing it for a moment or two before mumbling through a mouthful of food.

"No, but I can't tell he likes you. Him and mommy used to fight all time and he still loves her." Henry explained.

And he still loves her.

You swallow hard, giving a small nod. Sometimes you forgot that this was Henry's family you were getting involved with and in his eyes you were nothing but his nanny.

"Right. I like your father too...but not in that kind of way. It's complicated." You lied to Henry, teeth clenched.

Henry just hummed to himself. "So you just like him as a friend?" He told you, giving you a better way to describe it.

A frown pinched on your lips, brows furrowing slightly. No matter how you worded it, Henry just wouldn't understand.

You weren't even sure if you understood how you felt towards Charlie.
