"Sirius Orion Black, what in Merlin's sake are you wearing?"

I looked at my outfit as if I had no idea what he was talking about. "Excuse me, Professor? This is the uniform." I batted my eyes patronizingly.

"That is the girls' uniform, Mr. Black."

"Oh?" I said, twirling and looking at myself.

"Take it off, now."

"Why."

The teacher grabbed my shoulder to keep me still. "If you don't-"

"Don't touch him." I heard someone behind me say.

I couldn't turn. "Mr. Lupin, sit back down."

"No, sir, I can't, not yet." the guy, i suppose Lupin, said

"And why not?"

"You are wrongly forcing a student to change, sir, despite him wearing the required uniform."

"He is not wearing the appropriate uniform for his gender."

"I haven't yet read all the rules around uniforms, but i am willing to take this up in front of Dumbledore."

"Headmaster Dumbledore."

"Of course, headmaster dumbledore."

"Fine, after class." he let go of my shoulders and I turned to see a vaguely familiar boy. He was in Gryffindor so I've seen him in passing. Light brown hair, dark green eyes, light scars peeking out the ends of his clothes, eye bags that suggest lack of sleep and/or stress. All together the fellow 11 year old who stood up for me.

I nodded to James and sat beside the brave boy. James would understand. "Hi, im sirius, sirius black."

"I know- um you're sitting here?" the boy asked

"Yes? Is that a problem?"

"No.." he said hesitantly

"What's your name?" I decided that I would become friends with lupin, whether he liked it or not.

"Remus j- uh lupin." he sighed sounding a little frustrated

"Uh.. right okay remus."

"Sorry, my middle name is.. Well john."

"Ah good, a normal middle name. 'was scared that your name would be wolfy wolf mcwolf." i smiled

He coughed. "Uh what?"

"That's what remus lupin means basically. Anyway.. That guy," i pointed to James behind me, he waved, "is James potter. We've only been here for a few days but he's my best friend."

"Right.. Pronouns?"

"Me? he/him. James? Also he/him. Information may change, who knows. Yours?'

"he/him."

Of course i took absolutely no notes.

I sighed triumphantly "ahh, Plan Break All Rules I Can Without Getting Detention is going great."

"Wearing a shirt isn't breaking roles." james said, confused

"First week is gender roles and Black rules, james. I must break gender roles."

"Oh, okay. I have an idea."

"I'm always open to ideas."

"I saw one of lily's friends-"

"Lily again mate??"

"Lily's friend has makeup."

"Ooh."
