It felt like the whole world watched me that day. I woke up in a cold sweat. I was done.

It didn't just feel like it when most of the Great Hall watched me walk over to the gryffindor table, a few slytherins even trying to follow me, to stop me.

I didn't say a word as I pulled my brother from his table and out of the room.

Despite his surprise, he didn't struggle, nor say much.

"I can't go back there." I said as soon as we were far enough away. "Home, I mean."

"I've been saying this for years, but where do we go instead?"

"I don't know, but I just can't do this anymore!"

"Reg, you were always the more careful one, what's going on?"

"You've never really cared about safety, you were always rebellious and it got you hurt. Why are you being so logical now!"

"You're going to get hurt this time, not me."

"What, and my safety is more important?"

"Yes!"

"Oh."

"Yes, it is."

"That's.. That's not true."

"I've been protecting you all my life, Reg, why is this so surprising."

"your safety is- wait, what do you mean?"

"Why do you think your punishments were less severe?"

"Because I never.. I never stood up for myself..?"

"Reggie, our parents are shxt. You were their perfect child but still, they punished you, because they are just a bunch of old abusive old blood purist, homophobic shxts."

I took a shaky breath and swallowed the lump in my throat. "Right.."

"Okay, we need to make a plan. If you left anything at the house that you need, you need to find a way to get it."

"Okay."

"For now, we need to think of an excuse of why you pulled me aside, and maybe some reason that we can meet up again.

"The 26th is his 'time of the month'." james said

I flinched.

"Right, and that's next wednesday right?" Sirius asked writing something down

"Yeah." james responded

I sighed. "What are you guys planning for?"

They exchanged looks. "Nothing." Sirius tried

I rolled my eyes. "Of course."

"Don't worry your pretty little head moons," James said. "It's nothing important."

"Could you both.."

they waited but when i didn't continue, Sirius said, "what's up?"

Now's as good a time as any, I thought. "Don't call me pretty, please, and don't call the moons my 'time of the month'."

"Oh? I mean of course.." Sirius said obviously wanting to ask why

"That's fine, remus." James smiled

"I'm transgender." like muggle bandages, right?

James looked confused for a second. "Okay, thank you for telling us, for trusting us. Pronouns?"
