James Davidsons' POV.

3 weeks later

"Wake up, wake up, wake up!" Andy is jumping up and down on the bed - unfortunately, that isn't a sexual term; she really is jumping on the bed.

I groaned and rolled over, trying to avoid her loud and excited yelling.

"Wake up, James! It's Christmas!" She fell down, lounging all over me.

"What time is it?" I mumbled, stuffing my face further into the pillow.

Yes, the dreaded Christmas had come and I wasn't aware of how much a festive person Andy was.

"Seven thirty!" Andy yelped in bliss, standing back up and continuing to jump on the bed. "Get up!"

The pillow wasn't blocking any noise. Rolling onto my back, I asked, "why can't we wake up at a reasonable time? Say, eleven?"

Andy didn't accept that. She shook her head, jumped off the bed and walked out the door.

Moments later she strutted back into the room, holding a pink bag.

"I want to open my presents," she said. Coming over to my side of the bed, she grinned. "But whatever, I guess you just don't want yours."

She revealed the brand name on the bag in her hand, and my eyes widened. Victoria Secret.

Without hesitation, I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood up.

Andy laughed, placing the pink bag on the night stand. "We'll open that one later," she stated, making her way out of the room with me on her tail.

I fell into step with her and put my arm around her shoulders. "Merry Christmas, An."

My girlfriend grinned up at me, eyes sparkling with excitement and adoration. "Merry Christmas to you too."

"Nothing is merry for me this early in the morning," I humours, lightly squeezing her.

When we got to the tree that sat in the living room, everybody was already there; Colton's mum and dad, Colton, Samantha and Janis.

"Glad to see you could finally make it," Colton joked, and I laughed.

"Mate, you wouldn't believe how little persuasion it took." I winked down at Andy as we sat down.

"So, should we open presents now?" Andy suggests eagerly.

Miriam laughs, "sure thing. Who's handing out the presents?"

Colton's dad, Mark, is given the honour. First present is for Colton, then Janis, Miriam, Samantha, Mark, myself and Andy. I could tell Andy was growing impatient in the leading up to getting her present.

Her first present was from Sam; a shirt with Ying & Yang on it. She loved it. Mine was from Colton.

"You got me something?" I asked him, eyebrows raised. He shrugged.

"I guess I did." He said, smiling. I tore off the wrapping paper, revealing a 30 dollar movie voucher.

"Thanks, man."

Eventually, after all the presents were opened and wrapping paper littered the floor, Miriam finally said the words I'd been waiting for.

"Breakfast anyone?"

★ ☆ ★

"That was delicious, darling," I watched as Mark kisses Miriam on the forehead. The love they share was brilliant, and I can't wait to have that with Andy in the future.

Speaking of Andy, she is also brilliant. Not only she has a bag of lingerie in our room, awaiting me. But also because she's so considerate of the Smith family.

She got each of them two expensice presents - including Sam. I noticed Colton was already wearing the silver chain bracelet she got him.

In the process of watching Andy wash the dishes, -  in the least creepy way possible - the door bell rang.

"I'll get it!" Janis said, heading to the door.

Miriam looked up, "who could that be?"

"Probably just some neighbors singing Christmas carols."

But when Janis opened the door, nobody heard singing.

"Hello, dear." That voice. I knew that voice. "Is James Davidson here?"

"Yes..." I heard Janis drawl. "Why? What can I do for you?"

"Can I please speak to him? I'm his mother," my mum, who I haven't seen since I was battling against a dead man in court. Who I  haven't talked to since before my crime.

Janis came into the kitchen, telling me what I'd already heard. I got off the stool, making eye contact with Andy before leaving the room.

I hadn't dreamed it; my mum was standing at Colton's doorstep.

When she spotted my, she gave a sad smile. "Hi, honey."

I brushed passed her to stand outside. Closing the front door, I frowned.

"Why are you here?"

"James, I'm sorry I didn't contact you." She reached for my hand, but I pulled away. "Please don't be like this. I have news."

"Good or bad news?" I asked, stuffing my hands in my pockets.

"Your father and I are getting a divorce," her statement came out more like a question.

I thought it over, was this good news? I certainly didn't think a lot of my dad after betraying me like that. "Why?"

"Because, you're my son. And he... He hurt you, I can tell. When he went up on that stand, I knew what I wanted to do." She explained. This time when she reached for my hand, I didn't pull away.

"Does he know what you want?"

"Yes. I'm just waiting on him to sign the papers," she said, squeezing my hand. "I've been staying with your aunt Gorgia."

I nodded, processing my parents' divorce. I didn't wish for my dad to be unhappy, but I'm more fond of my mother's feelings than of his. And if she's happy with a divorce, then I'm happy.

"Did you want to come inside?" I ask, opening the door. "There's somebody I want you to meet."

After closing the door, I gently pull my mum into the kitchen where Andy had finished doing the dishes and was leaning on the counter.

I point to her, "mama, met Andrea. Andy, this is my mum."

The two shook hands, Andy smiling brightly and ma mirroring her expression.

I, again, sit back and watch them laugh and talk.

And I knew that those women will be the two most important people in my life for a long time.
