{19}James Davidson POV
"I now call the suspect, James Davidson, to the stage please."
Every time I go to that stage they ask me the same question. Do they think I'm stupid enough to say a different answer each time?
I make my way to the stage and sit on the chair, leaning back and getting comfortable.
"Please do sit up straight, Mr Davidson." The judge murmured down to me and I did as he said. I did not want to mess with the judge. He smiled in appreciation, "thank you."
Fiona Franks stood and made her way over to me. I would've said she was sexy if she wasn't about to question the shit outta me. Her voice was higher than the empire state building, and I bet everyone in this room, except her, knows that she's coming back as an annoying little Chihuahua in her next life.
"James, it came to my attention that there's a question I haven't yet asked you." Im guess the sly smirk on her face was suppose to make me squirmy and sweaty. She dropped it once she realized it wasn't working. Walking over to the jury, she said, "this boy has never told us what he did after he dropped Andrea off at her house." She turned back to me, "where did you go? Who did you see? What did you do?"
I hesitated. I knew my mother was in the room, so I couldn't say that I went home, kissed my mum and went to bed. No, I had to be smarter...
But on the spot, I had no idea what to say. Whats my allaby?
Shit, shit, shit!
"Uh, I... Went home." To cover up any suspicion, I relax into the chair again. "Yeah, I got home. Had a shower, went to bed."
Easy, thats done.
Or so I thought.
"Thank you, your honour. Thank you, James." As I walked down the stairs and back to my seat, she smirked at me and turned back to the Jury.
What's this bitch up to?
"I now call my next witness, José Costa Davidson, to the stand."
What? José?
DAD?
From the back of the room, my father cleared his throat and made his way down the aisle. With my mouth nearly on the ground, I tried to catch his eye but he avoided my gaze.
Once he reached the stand, he smoothed his suit jacket down. Fiona stood in front of him, a sly smile in her face.
"Its nice to see you again. How've you been?"
What? Again? They know each other?
"I'm fine, thank you." His lips were pursed, his reply short.
Fiona smiled. "Now, José. Is what your son said about coming home true? Do you know?"
José cleared his throat again, "it was around five in the morning when I heard James come in the house. He got in the shower and went to bed." For a moment I thought he was going along with my allaby. "I thought to myself how strange it was that he was coming home a lot later than he said he would be. When I'd heard him go to bed, I snuck over to the bathroom." My father stopped and looked down before continuing. "And... There was blood. On the towel, and his shirt and pants. On the floor of the shower was blood, washing down the drain."
Fiona shook her head, almost in disappointment toward me. "And is there any evidence?"
José pulled a plastic bag with a blood-stained grey shirt in it. So that's where my shirt went...
