Alright listen I know this is just a theory and blah blah blah but I honestly love the theory of Sokka being Suyin's father after a little rendezvous with Toph before going on the mission that had ended his life, I never actually finished reading the avatar series so this is just keyed in knowledge about when he passed away and what not, this whole one shot is HYPOTHETICAL TO MAKE IT A SEXY TEAR JERKER! please do not give me any hate as none of the events I write out actually happen, but just enjoy the smutty one shot!
Anime: Avatar the last air bender
Setting: Toph is chief of police and her daughter Lin is only 4 years old

The air was chilly in republic city as Sokka made his way through the police headquarters looking for a certain chief of police. Everyone he passed greeted him with much respect, that he deserved obviously, as he was one of the top high council men alongside the Avatar, his own brother in-law, Aang. Sokka had just returned from a war meeting with terrible news on the whereabouts of the Red Lotus and where they were hiding and was now on his way to tell Toph about the mission he was taking on. Sokka made it to her door but before he could knock a deep, yet feminine voice called out from the other side.
"Doors open, rock for brains," Sokka grinned at the nicknames she would still use on him as he pushed the door open to see her sitting at her desk with her assistant who was taking notes on the latest criminals that Toph had just taken down. In the corner of the office sat a tiny Lin who was drawing on some paper that was laid in front of her along with a brush and ink, which she managed to get on her dress as well as her cheek.
"Always good to see you, Toph," Sokka stopped in front of her desk and looked down at her. She looked up and for a brief moment he saw how tired she really was, bags dusted under her eyes, her slight frown held more emotion than it looked, and the way her milky eyes held something Sokka never quite saw in her before, pain, but in an instant, she blinked she had on her usual demeanor.
"Well, I can't say the same for you, considering I can't see you per say, and you only seem to visit when there's bad news, did I miss a meeting?" She cocked her head to the side.
"There was but it was only with few councilmen and Aang, we got hinted on the whereabouts of the Red Lotus, we're planning a capture mission right now after Firelord Zuko is notified and we can send troops with us," Sokka looked over at the child on the floor to see that she had stopped drawing and was paying attention to the grownups talk.
"Great! Notify me when the mission is set and I will be more than prepared to help at battle," she looked content.
"Toph, you can't come with us on this mission, that's why I'm here to talk to you, Aang needs you in Republic City to protect in case the lead was false and meant to lure us away from here," Sokka explained to the rising hothead.
"But... I'm more use on the field with you guys!" She was starting to throw her typical tantrum.
"Toph, you have a child, you have a duty to protect this city, this is where you're needed," Sokka reasoned with her. She stood up and turned to face the window with crossed arms, which only meant she was showing hint of annoyance considering she couldn't see what was outside the window.
"Mom?" Lin called out with a pout to her mother. Toph instantly looked over to her and small smile lurked on her face before she sighed and turned back to Sokka.
"Fine I get it, there is no one else better who could take care of this city, it would be chaos without me," she reasoned with herself, but Sokka could see it still pained her to be missing the action.
"I'm glad you agree, I also hope you agree to dinner this weekend? I could pick you up in the evening," Sokka grinned at her.
"Oh, I would love to, but I got work, and then Lin, I won't have a babysitter in time," Toph talked herself out of any fun as she usually did, she was always about work and her daughter, who she never showed much affection to the child, but everyone around saw she loved her unconditionally.
"Cmon, Toph! You never go out anymore with the gang, look I'm sure Katara will be more than willing to watch Lin if it means you taking a break from work, plus I miss you, is it too much to ask? If anything, little Lin can tag along, she reminds me of you when I first met you actually," Sokka rambled on as he looked over at the spawn of Toph, who looked up at the mention of her name to give him a slight glare with a smirk, before going back to her drawing, sending shivers down his spine.
"I'll ask Katara, but if she says she can't then I'm not going," she finished the conversation by gathering her belongings in a sling bag and grabbing Lins things and scooping her up.
"Of course, she'll say yes! I'll see you this weekend!" Sokka walked her down and offered to take them home instead of waiting for one of her officers.
"No thanks, I think I'll walk home today; I have some things to think about," Toph said her goodbyes and left. Sokka smiled as he watched her walk away, and slowly followed her home to make sure she got there safe, he's sure she knew he had but was glad she didn't shoo him away. He returned back to his lonesome apartment and removed most of his clothing as he sat on his couch. Looking around he gazed at all his awards and accomplishments he had achieved over the years after the war had ended. His eyes stopped as he looked at the pictures of his friends and family, his sister and her little family she had started with Aang, his nephews and niece who he loved to play with. Zuko who had become firelord after the war and had a child with Mai, a girl who seemed brilliant beyond her years. Then there was Toph, who worked so hard to be the person she was today despite the fact she was blind. Singlehandedly invented metal bending at the age of twelve and began teaching earth benders after the war had ended, joined the rest of the gang when republic city was built and created the most top-notch police system known to the four nations and became the chief of police as well. A few weeks after Aang and Katara's wedding she had announced she was pregnant, but she never gave details on when or who she had gotten pregnant by, no one bothered asking anyways because the answer would always be the same. Parenting definitely did not come easy to her, not only did she knock the doctor out and broke some equipment when she gave birth, but Sokka remembers her basically living with Katara and Aang while Katara helped her along with taking care of a child. She seemed almost scared, Sokka assumed it was because of how her parents had treated her and she was afraid she would unknowingly treat her child the same. Sokka knew how much she loved her daughter though, he saw it in her face when she would stare at Lin for long periods of time, or when Lin would fall asleep in her arms Toph would run her fingers to explore her face, as if to engrave what she looks like in her mind. Lin was tough as Toph, despite only being four years old, she showed the same strength as her mother, not only in earth bending, but in attitude as well. Sokka would never admit out loud the way he felt for Toph, how he looked up to her and admired her strength, it's what made her so perfect to him, she was the perfect warrior. Lately though he's been worried, he's noticed how she would distant herself from the gangs' activities, how she missed certain meetings on purpose, how she throws herself into her work and won't talk to anyone for a week at a time, lying that she was too busy, or Lin was being fussy. Sokka saw through it though, he saw the expressions on her face when she thought no one was around or forgot that they were, how she looks so sad when she looks into the distant of nothing, how she holds Lin close to her when she seems extra low. He doesn't know that Toph had gotten awful news on a dear person she had known, someone who was important to her and Lin. Toph isn't good at expressing her feelings or likes anyone knowing that she even has any, so she separates herself and uses work as a mind-numbing way to work it out. At night she would sit in Lins room just to listen to her sleep and feel her tiny little heartbeat under her fingertips, until she too fell asleep, only to be waken hours later by Lin asking why mommy was in her room again. That night she went home though and after feeding, bathing herself and Lin she placed her child down to rest and told her a nightly story that she always did about one of the crazy adventures the gang or herself had gotten into in their younger years. Toph had settled herself in her room and let her thoughts fight in her head for a while until one name made it all shut up, Sokka. He always seemed to know when to pop up in her life and he didn't even know it. Toph had felt when he had followed her to make sure she had gotten home safe, normally she would've called him out immediately and told him to buzz off, but today it just felt nice. She laid in bed and thought about how he treated her over the years, how he respected her more than anyone else, how he stood up for her when anyone would try to give her bullshit. How he was always by her side when she didn't even know she needed it, Sokka was just everything to her. She thought about their date on Friday, and she would never admit it to herself, but she was kind of looking forward to it as a blush spread across her cheeks. Shaking her head Toph laid to sleep for her job in the morning. The week had gone by rather slowly for both Sokka and Toph, both waiting for the weekend to approach. Katara had immediately agreed to watching Lin for the night, letting her spend some time with kids her own age. Toph had said her goodbyes to her daughter and made sure she had everything she needed as she watched her fly off with Aang on Appa, before heading inside her apartment to get ready for her evening.
"Thanks for coming over to help me, Julie," Toph thanked her assistant who helped her with a lot of things she couldn't do, like write, and right now get ready for an evening out.
"Of course! Even though you already are really beautiful," Julie complimented her and Toph knew she was telling the truth, which made her feel good about herself.
"Alright do your work, but if you touch my feet don't hold me accountable for any damages you receive," Toph told the girl before taking a seat Julie had pulled over for her. Toph stayed still as she felt Julie brushing her hair out and pulling it up into an elegant bun, which she preferred anyways, then applying what felt like heavy makeup but Julie kept reassuring her it was only mascara and lip-gloss. Julie picked out a light green dress and a dark green satin robe to drape off her shoulders with silk flats, that Toph had cut the soles off of to feel the ground beneath her.
"You look so pretty for your date!" Julie chimed as she looked over her work.
"Thank you, but it's just Sokka, I'm not sure why everyone seems so excited," she moved her hands over her dress to get the feel of the material and try to picture what it looked like on her, it felt nice as it hugged her body.
"Oh, well I guess you don't see the way he looks at you sometimes," Julie blushed as she forgot Toph never knew about the hints Sokka would give off.
"What are you talking about?" Toph looked over to where Julie was standing.
"Well, everyone sees him looking at you a lot with a blush on his face, and he's always concerned and asking about you, he even requests updates on you when he's on missions and whatnot, and every time he visits, he practically runs to find you," Julie blushed as she felt like she was betraying Sokka.
"Oh, I see," Toph dropped the subject and walked Julie out as she stood by her door waiting for Sokka to get her. A knock sounded not much longer and Toph went to open the door quickly. She felt him standing there, but he seemed nervous for some reason.
"Hey, Top— holy shit," Sokka whistled out before catching himself with a quirky grin.
"Hello, Sokka," Toph smiled stepping outside in the chilly winter air.
"Well, I wish I would've dressed up nicer," he chuckled more to himself than her.
"Well, I can't really see what you look like, but I'm sure you look fine," she spoke out waiting for him to lead her too wherever.
"Ha well thanks, well let's get going, shall we? We'll be taking my automobile," he said leading her to the car and opened the door for her to get in.
"I've got to say I'm so glad that transportation technology has evolved to this because animals are so unpredictable sometimes," she commented as she casually used the metal vehicle to see her surroundings and try to keep up with his driving to see where he was taking her.
"Technology in general has come a long way and I love every bit of it," Sokka admitted, always keen to learning about the scientific side of life.
"So where are we going?" She asked.
"I'm taking us to Kwong's Cuisine, their food to top tier in this city," he responded pulling up next the fancy restaurant.
"That place is expensive though, you don't need to take me here," she frowned becoming slightly insecure for a moment.
"What? It's just a restaurant nothing too big," he brushed it off but blushed at the cute face she was making. They made their way into the brightly lit and heavily decorated place and walked up to the host stand.
"General Sokka, Chief Beifong, what an honor to have you here tonight! We have nothing but the finest table for you both," the host greeted nervously and snatched a waiter to take them to their special table. Sokka grabbed Tophs hand subconsciously and lead her the way to a table close to an open balcony with a fireplace burning nearby for warmth. Sokka pulled the chair out for her and sat himself down and looked over and nearly died from the way the lighting reflected off her body, making her look like a warrior goddess. Her muscles from years of training and the little scares from battles sat on her soft looking skin, slightly tanned from the sun burning into it over the years. Her slender fingers probably filled with calluses from earth bending and fighting in general. She was perfect in every way, and she was sitting in front of Sokka after so many years just for his eyes to view.
"Welcome to Kwongs, may I start you off with some drinks and bread?" The waiter asked with a pen and pad in hand.
"I'll take a bottle of wine please, and some water," Sokka ordered and looked at Toph waiting for her to say something different.
"Of course!" The waiter walked away. The night continued on as they both talked about work, what they did on their time off, and how they wish they could spend it.
"Honestly Toph, I've felt rather lonely lately, being a general is great and I love traveling, but I think I'm ready to just settle down, stop living life on the edge," Sokka admitted as they finished their meals and began to leave after Sokka had paid and left a generous tip.
"Well, I don't understand the settling down part, I do get the lonely part, it's always just me and Lin, and I love her very much and wouldn't trade her in for anything in the world, but sometimes I crave someone else to be with," Toph spoke free heartedly for the first time in a long time. Sitting in the car she heard Sokka get in and start the engine but continued to sit there in silence.
"Toph, I invited you to this dinner as a date, and I would like to continue this date if you don't mind," Sokka turned to her with a red face to catch her reaction and was taking off guard at the immediate one.
"I would love that," she breathed out fast, her heart beating as fast as his.
"Mine or yours?"
"Which ever one you can get to the fastest," Sokka took that as a challenge and raced himself back to his apartment which was only a few blocks over from where they were. He parked at the curb and practically jumped out of his car to help Toph out and up the many stairs to get to his suite. Unlocking the door was difficult as he was sweating uncontrollably and shaking with nerves.
"I can feel that you're nervous," Toph spoke up quietly.
"I'm sorry, I don't understand why," he mumbled finally unlocking the door and letting her in.
"It's alright, I am too," she whispered with a blush. Sokka stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her, her chest was heaving slightly, and she was wringing her hands together as she shifted her weight between her feet. Sokka slowly made his way over to her and cupped her face catching her off guard.
"Toph, I need to confess something to you, the only reason I ever come back to Republic City instead of going home to the southern pole is only because of you, I care about you so much, I watched you become the most powerful earthbender who has accomplished so much more than anyone else, you created metalbending, how is that not amazing? Toph, I don't see you as just a friend," Sokka rambled slowly closing in on her lips, her hands gripped his shirt tightly waiting for the impact of his lips. The kiss was hard and desperate, both pushing each other's feelings onto the other without saying a word. Toph opened her eyes slowly and stepped back suddenly out of his grip, stumbling on her feet and falling back on her butt.
"Toph? Are you okay?" Sokka went to reach for her but she waved him off getting up quickly.
"Sokka, I can't, I can't do this," she spoke quickly, trying to think of a way to leave.
"What, why? I thought you would like me too, I mean I always got the feeling from you since we were young, or was it all in my head," Sokka tried to get her to stop leaving.
"No, I mean yes, but I just can't, Sokka, not right now, I can't deal with this right now," she was fighting the tears that were trying to escape, her chest tightening up on her. Sokka grabbed her arm from moving any closer to the door and turned her to face him.
"Talk to me, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just can't..."
"Toph, I know you; you don't think that I haven't noticed you lately? How you distant yourself, throw yourself into work, you haven't come to the last couple gang dinners or even half the meetings, you just work, and go home, I notice the way you hold Lin more now too, Toph, talk to me, please," Sokka pleaded with her. The tears Toph was holding in finally fell as a heartbreaking sob forced itself out as she hung her head on his chest, letting her cries rock her as his hands rubbed down her arms and back.
"Talk to me"
"It's Lin's father.. he's dead.." she sobbed out.
"Lin's father? Wait, Toph, you never even mentioned him before, what happened? Does she know?" The news went through his mind as he tried to not picture that Toph had secretly been hiding him from everyone but was still in deep connection with him to be affected by his death.
"No she doesn't know, I've never told her about him before, she doesn't need to know either, I found out when I was going on a drug bust, his body was recovered from the aftermath of a drug war we had missed, if I had gotten there an hour earlier, he would still be alive," she squeezed her eyes shut as she remembered when she heard his name called out, she didn't even need to touch him to know it had been him.
"Wait, you're telling me he's a criminal?" Sokka was more baffled than anything.
"I guess I'll tell you everything about him, but you're the only person who knows, you can't tell a soul Sokka, I don't want Lin or anyone else knowing about this," she looked up at him and he could tell she was serious.
"I promise I won't repeat this," he promised as they sat on his couch.
"It was the night of Aang and Katara's wedding, I felt someone breaking in and I went to investigate because they had slipped past the other officers on duty, I cuffed him with my cuffs I always keep on me, and he didn't even fight me, I wasn't in the mood to deal with him so I went to drag him to another officer but then he asked if I wanted to dance, I thought he was joking but he kept insisting, so I gave in and then we ended up talking and he told me about how he was trying to pull a heist for his gang so they could pay off their debts to someone, I obviously couldn't let him steal anything but I took him home with me, we ended up having a few drinks and then we ending up sleeping together, there was just something about him I just couldn't shake off, he told the truth each time he spoke, he wasn't as bad as the normal criminals I caught, and he kind of reminded me of you, when I found out I was pregnant I never wanted anyone to know I had slept with a criminal and was now having a child with one, so I never told him, I tried to search for him to tell him and maybe he would change his ways for her, but I never could, he was sneaky, so when I found out he had died it ate me up because he never got to know her, didn't even know she exsisted, and he'll never have the chance now," Toph finished her story with wiping her eyes and waiting for Sokka to respond.
"I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that alone, I can't imagine ever finding out that way about someone I shared a connection with," Sokka spoke honestly.
"Sokka I want this, but I'm scared," she admitted.
"You don't have to be scared, I would never hurt you, Toph," he whispered as he ran his thumb across her cheeks to wipe the makeup running down. Toph leaned forward and waited for Sokka to meet her lips with his, which he did so immediately. The kiss was different than the first one, it was slow and sweet, as if he was pouring all his love into her. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and noted the muscles she wasn't aware of until now. Sokka ran his hands down her sides and stopped right above her thighs.
"Maybe we should get more comfortable?" Toph said as she stood up and unzipped her dress letting it fall to the floor. She wasn't wearing bandaging around her chest so her breast fell freely, her buds hardening with the cool air. She slipped off the unnecessary shoes and waited for Sokka to make a move, who was only sitting there with his mouth dropped open.
"Toph, you are so beautiful," he stood and picked her up bridal style and carried her to the bed where he laid her down gently. He took his clothes off quickly and turned the lights off, the only light coming from a single lit candle on the night stand, casting a glow of enchantment on her body, the shadows dancing with her curves.
"I'm a little nervous," she admitted as she rubbed her legs together.
"Don't be, when you're here you only need to focus on me and you, I will never hurt you Toph," he said as he ran his hands up and down her legs slowly. He took his time mesmerizing how she looked at this very moment, eyes hooded, face flushed, lips plump, her chest heaving slightly faster than usual, hands wringing themselves between the sheets, waiting for him to do more.
"I trust you, Sokka," Toph whispered as she reached out for him, bringing him to her lips in a heated kiss. Sokka leaned into her body, arms on either side of her head, unpinning her bun so her hair spilled out like silk. His lips trail her jawline down to her neck, soaking in the sounds leaving her lips for him. His hands travel down her sides then back to up to her breasts, feeling how soft and supple they were in his hands, pinching her buds between his fingers.
"Sokka," she gasped, bucking up into him.
"Stop teasing me," she whispered tugging at his hair softly. Sokka groaned out as he spread her legs slightly and positioned himself at her entrance. Staring at her face to watch her reactions he slowly started to enter her, her eyes rolling back as a soft moan left her lips. It took every ounce of him to not rock into her recklessly, not only has he been without the touch of a women in a very long time, but the way she clamped around him was nearly too much for him to handle. Sokka leaned down so his arms were on either side of her head, slowly steadily thrusting into her as her moans echoed throughout his apartment.
"Sokkaa~," she moaned into his ear as she wrapped her legs around him, swiftly flipping them in such a precise speed Sokka wasn't sure how it happened, but he didn't care once she started taking control and rocked herself on him. Gripping her hips and thighs he helped steady her as she started bouncing faster on him, earning her his groans.
"Fuck, Toph," he watched mesmerized as she bounced up and down, her chest bouncing with her as she slid up and down on his member. Her walls began to clamp around him and her climax began to build up faster and faster, he seemed to of gotten the memo because he started thrusting up into her sloppily. Sitting up and wrapping her legs around his waist he hugged her tightly as she hugged back, lips locking in the heat of the moment.
"Sokka I'm cumming!" Toph moaned out as she started grinding on him even harder.
"Yeah, me too! Together!" He moaned with her. Both of their orgasms shocked them as they both screamed out each other's names. Laying in each other's arms in complete bliss, as if nothing mattered anymore, the wars they each fought everyday were behind them, their problems just gone. Toph slowly slipped into sleep as Sokka rubbed her back slowly, enjoying the feeling of having her in his arms. He wondered if this meant they would be together finally, now that they're all grown up, he didn't mind Lin either, he loves that little kid, she reminds him of Toph when he first met her. Slowly he fell asleep with her and finally got the best nights rest he's had in such a long time; he's definitely going to miss his bed when he left for the mission.
