ANAKIN SKYWALKER

Maul flew backwards, but Anakin managed to push himself off just in time to avoid being carried back with him by the force of his own momentum. As the Sith lay winded, the young Jedi Knight reasoned that he had probably hit him with the about half the velocity of a podracer with average speed capabilities in full throttle.

Anakin rolled to break the impact of the fall, but was on his feet within a  second. He ran over to where Ahsoka lay shaking, and breathing a lot faster than normal. She knew how close to death she had just come. He pulled her into a hug.

“It’s okay, Snips. It’s all okay now. I’m here,” he said to the young woman he had come to think of as his little sister, or even daughter.

“Anakin…” she whispered, a hint of a sob in her voice. “Anakin, I’ve faced some of the worst people in the galaxy. Ventress, General Grievous, Cad Bane… But never anything like this. He knew… He knew what I was going to do next before I even did. I don’t know how we can win!”

“We can beat him, Ahsoka. Don’t worry.” She buried her face in his cloak, and he tucked his chin in between her montrals. “We always manage to beat the Dark Side. It might take a while, but we will succeed. It’s what the Light Side does.”

“Thank you,” she murmured.

“For what?”

Ahsoka pulled her tearstained face out of his robes. “For coming for me, for training me… for just being you. For being the father and the brother I never had. For being my family.”

He smiled gently. “I try my best, Snips.”

And that was when he felt Maul wake up.

AHSOKA TANO

Ahsoka used the Force with her good hand to bring her lightsaber to her. She clipped it onto her belt, watching as Maul scrambled to his feet, spitting blood. She smiled. Without even using his lightsaber, Anakin had successfully shaken him. The name Anakin Skywalker had always set most of his enemies on edge.

But the Sith Lord wasn’t that shaken. “In terms of all the treachery in the galaxy, that of the Jedi indisputably takes first place.”

“Pretty words for one who broke the Rule Of Two,” Anakin shot back. Ahsoka wondered what he was talking about. What was this Rule Of Two?

Maul did a likeness of a shrug. “ ‘Out with the old, in with the new’, as they say. A quick brush away from tradition before history can resume its course.”

“You know, you have a really interesting way of answering without giving any actual answers,” Ahsoka said, crossing her arms. It served both to increase her intimidation factor and to hide her injured hand.

“Indeed.” A sinister smile suddenly crossed his face. It was then that she noticed that Maul had made no attempt to reclaim his lightsaber, which was lying in the sand nearby. “Now tell me, Skywalker, how did you find that Sith holocron?”

“What?” Her gaze shot up to Anakin, her eyes wide. How had he…?

Suddenly nervous, he spoke again. “Snips, this really isn’t the time, and–”

“I don’t care!” She cut him off, her temper heating up. One of her best-kept secrets was apparently now common knowledge. “Tell me! Now!

“I – I just wanted to help. From the beginning, the Dark Side surrounded you falling into that coma. I wanted to do something about it, so… So about a year ago, I went looking for the Sith holocron that the padawans whispered you had found in the Temple during Order 66, and–”

“Shut up,” she said. She didn’t know where that had come from, and she was momentarily taken aback by how rude she had just been, but said nothing. Curiously, it was almost felt like her left eye was heating up as well…

Maul smiled. “Good, young Togruta. Feeding off of your negative emotions will help you strike me down where I stand. I know that you wish to kill me with every fiber of your being. Do it: there’s no reason for you to hold back…”

She put her hands on the sides of her face, trying to calm down. But the Dark Side was trying to take hold of her, trying to find a way into her mind, where it could take root and grow…

Suddenly she felt something. A voice in the darkness that was beginning to cloud her mind. Hang on, Socks, I’m coming.

And that was when she felt the Rebel Troopers arrive.

*THE TROOPERS ARE COMING THE TROOPERS ARE COMING THE TROOPERS ARE COMING!!! But will they arrive too late? Has Ahsoka slipped and fallen past the point of no return? And where stands Lux in all of this? And Padme, Obi-Wan, Rex, Christo and the two boys? What will become of them? You'll find out in the compelling chapter of The Unchronicled Adventures Of Ahsoka Tano!

Hope you liked this chapter! It's officially the last of the two or three I had ready, but I have another one about half-finished. Another reason that there was a delay in updates before the previous chapter was because I wrote this UTTERLY AWESOME part that was like three chapters long, but then I thought, "Meeeehhhhh it would be better in the next book." So yeah.

Become a Jedi like your father before you and may the Force be with you,
