AHSOKA TANO
Ahsoka put her hand on Anakin’s arm, drawing a shaky breath and swallowing audibly. “Anakin, I don’t think I can do this,” she hissed, her nerves getting the better of her.
He shot her a glance out of the corner of his eye. “You can. Trust yourself, Snips. You’re cutting the last thread tying you to your old life, and it’s as important to me as I know it is to you.”
“Okay,” she murmured, more to herself than to him. She smoothed a crease in her simple white gown. It clung to her small frame, the lack of design and strapless top emphasizing her curves. Its discrete shimmer gave her an otherworldly look. Or at least, that was what Padme had told her.
To her surprise, he planted a soft kiss on her forehead. “It feels like I’m giving you away, Ahsoka. You’re like my sister, like my daughter. I know you’ll be in good hands, but still.”
“I know,” she said. “Okay. Let’s do this.” They walked out the doorway of Obi-Wan’s home, and into the spectacle that Padme, with the help of Amni and Christo, had turned the dusty land outside the house into. Posts had been staked into the ground, and softly glowing strings of lights bridged from one to the other. Combined with the breathtaking binary sunset, it created an incredibly romantic setting.
Understated, yet elegant bouquets of meridiums, a white flower that was one of the few that could survive Tatooine’s climate, were in white pots were at intervals in a semi-circle around the small group of people there. Christo, Captain Rex, Commander Cody, Amni, Padme, Obi-Wan, and even little Jinoyar…
And Lux. Wearing a white tux with gold embroidery at the cuffs and collar, he stood on a small podium. He smiled happily when he saw her. He had been badgering poor Amni, who had been standing guard, for three days, all for a mere glimpse of the dress she was wearing.
Her wedding dress.
There was no music, but Anakin and Ahsoka still walked as if to an imaginary beat. After what felt like forever, they finally stopped. She picked up a part of her skirts, as Padme had told her to, and stepped onto the platform.
As she let go of Anakin, her arm with its white finger glove that reached up to about halfway up her arm, she looked back. He nodded, smiling gently. It could have been a trick of the light, but she could have sworn that she saw the hints of tears in the corners of his eyes.
She turned towards Obi-Wan, who was holding a heavy old book in both hands. He smiled too, and looked at her and Lux. “Please join hands,” he said, and Ahsoka’s fingers linked with her love’s.
“We are gathered here today to witness one of the greatest things in the galaxy,” he said. The Jedi Master’s voice sounded muted, but she still heard every word. All she could see were Lux’s beautiful grey-blue eyes.
“There are forces beyond our comprehension out there, beyond the stars. One of them, which burns brighter than a sun but is as cool and comforting as a simple stream, is love. Love is one of the things that bind us all together.” Then, reciting the words from the holy book, he said, “And that is why the suns, the moons and the desert sands command me to fulfill their wishes by uniting this young man, and this young woman.”
Obi-Wan looked at Lux. “Do you, Lux Bonteri of Onderon, promise to love she who stands before you, to care for her, to stay with her, no matter what hardships may come upon you, for as long as you shall live?”
“I do,” he said, looking into her eyes. She felt him run a finger over her ring.
“And do you, Jedi Master Ahsoka Tano of Shili, promise to love he who stands before you, to care for him, to stay with him, no matter what hardships may come upon you, for as long as you shall live?”
“I do,” she said, and couldn’t keep the smile from her face.
“Then, by the suns, the moons and the desert sands, I pronounce you now, and forevermore, husband and wife,” Obi-Wan said.
“I love you,” Lux whispered.
“I love you,” she whispered back. Then, gently, he freed his hands from her own, instead using them to cup her face. She did the same, and they simultaneously leant into it. Then their lips met, and Ahsoka thought about all of the romance stories that she had ever heard.
And so they sealed it with a kiss, she thought. And lived happily ever after.
*Ahsoka and Lux are now happily married, and have found their happily ever after. Or have they? Maul remains hiding in the shadows. Could he be planning another attack? Will the New Jedi Order have any way to stop him if he does? And what was the strange event that happened to Ahsoka two nights before?
