chapter 44

"yeah... i think so..." you say...

"you look really pretty," Niki smiles at you.

"yeah!" minx agrees.

"thankyou girls," you say.

The four of them walk you out the bedroom door and downstairs where everyone else was waiting and talking.

"you ready?" Toby asks you.

"you're like the fourth person to ask me that in the last five minutes," you giggle, "but yeah, I am,"

"lets get going then," Toby says.

He holds his hand out for you to take and when you do, he leads you out the front door while you wave and tell everyone goodbye.

He takes you on a nice walk around the neighbourhood, he takes you down the beach and you both notice a fair. He kneels down for you to jump on his back which you do.

He runs to the fair with you on his back and you head to the lit up fairground.

You went around the fair, going on numerous things and playing at the stalls, winning lots of prizes.

"Here," he says handing you the teddy bear he won at the stall. You hug him and thank him.

You go on more rides and laugh. You joke around and playfully push each other.

You get some candy floss and some drinks before beginning to walk over to the beach and sitting on the sand, watching the sunset over the ocean.

"can I have some?" he asks as you open the candy floss. You take some and then hand him the container.

"thankyou," he says, you look at him and nod with a smile as you stuff your mouth with the sugar.

You admire the glow that the setting sun casts upon his face. You admire his face as he gazes at the sunset.

"Its pretty," he says and you snap out of your daze.

"Yeah," you agree, turning your head to look back at the ball of fire that's so far away from you but feels so close.

he hands you the container back and you take some more.

"thankyou," you say looking at him again. No matter how much you tried, you couldn't pull your gaze from him for too long without feeling some sense of sadness.

"are you ok?" he asks, noticing that you were staring at him.

"oh, yeah, I'm fine," you smile at him.

"are you sure?" he asks and you nod with a fond smile on your face.

"ok then," he smiles as he continues to watch the sunset.

The two of you watch the once icy blue sky fade into orange and then grey before finally settling on a dark navy blue with white speckles that scatter the sky. You spend the time talking and laughing and just being happy.

"I'm gonna miss doing stuff like this with you," you say.

"I know, I will too," he sighs slightly, "but we can still meet up and call everyday and we can text," he tries to make you smile which kind of works.

"yeah, its just not gonna be the same," you say.

"I know," he says as he pulls wraps his arms around you and pulls you into an awkward hug. you start to laugh at the way you were now sat and he does too.

After a while, you both get up and start walking back home, hand in hand.

"tag, you're it," you say as you tap his shoulder and run from him.

"What?" He asks as it processes in his head. He begins chasing you and you laugh and run further and further away from him.

He manages to catch upto you and hugs you from behind, spinning you while you scream and laugh in protest.

"Happy birthday," he whispers as your spinning slowly stops.

You turn in his arms to face him, you smile and kiss his cheek gently.

After a nice walk, you ended up home.

"Welcome back!" Niki says as her, Minx, Karl and Alex run straight upto you.

They drag you upstairs and into Niki and Minx's room where they force you to tell them all of the details.

"OK, that's cute," Niki says once you had told them.

Minx gets a text on her phone. She quickly checks it.

"Are we still on for tomorrow?" She asks, reading the message.

"I think so," you nod. Everyone else agrees and you all talk about how tomorrow is going to work.

"So, she said that she is available all day," Minx says.

"I say we get up early so we can sneak away and get it done without fundy knowing," you say.

"Yeah, thats smart," Everyone agrees and before long, you have a plan.

You all fall asleep in your own rooms, however, you wake up at 5 am so you can get ready...
