your heart skipped a beat.
you felt so many emotions running through you in this moment, it made you panic.

without hesitating, you immediately went into the lab, leaving sam, steve, thor and loki standing there confused. you didn't want to waste time with any crying, you tried everything that could possibly lead you to bucky.

you ignored everyone and everything around you because you just tried to focus on finding bucky. bucky has a tracker in his suit, like every avenger, but there was no signal because wherever hydra is keeping him right now, is many feet under the ground.

a few hours have passed already and you didn't move from your seat once. you were collecting every single information that you had from hydra and tried to connect the one with the other to see if you could spot their base or anything else that got you closer to finding bucky. you weren't making any moves yet and it drove you insane.

you spotted steve, tony, thor and nat in the corner of your eye. they were standing in between the doorframe and whispered the whole time while looking over at you sometimes.

when you reacted to bucky being kidnapped like that earlier, you didn't think of how confused they probably were. they were still confused and trying to connect some dots.

"can you guys whisper somewhere else? y'all are distracting me."
you spoke for the first time again after hours. you still didn't look away from your screen. they were all looking at each other, apologized quietly and then left.

one hour later, you heard the door open. you didn't look, but you knew exactly that it was pietro. he took a chair, placed it next to you and sat down. he slowly put his hand on your thigh.

"y/n?"

you didn't respond.

"y/n please look at me."

you looked over at him.

"it's late, please go up and get some sleep."

"sleep is overrated and a waste of time."

"come on y/n, please. you need sleep."

"what i need is bucky."
you said and looked back at your screen to continue your research. he continued to try and convince you to get some rest, but you just ignored him. you were kind of feeling bad about it because he cared for you, but you were caring for somebody else right now.
after a while, pietro left.

you were sitting here for a while now so of course at some point you needed to use the bathroom. you stood up and went to use the one next to the living room. you were walking slowly because your back hurt a lot from sitting all day. as you entered the living room, you saw tony, steve, peter, scott, and sam sitting on the couch.

"ohoo look who it is!"
tony shouted sarcastically. you ignored his comment and quickly used the bathroom to get back to work again.

one day passed already and it was currently the middle of the night. you haven't slept in more than 40 hours and didn't eat a single thing. you've luckily drank something because pietro brought you water every 2 hours although you were ignoring him the whole time, which was extremely sweet of him.

suddenly an idea popped up in your head.

harley once told you that when he was little, he created something for tony. it was an usb stick that he dismantled and created something new out of it. it was a signal amplifier. harley made it because tony once lost his computer and the signal was too weak to track it. the signal amplifier worked, but took pretty long.

you immediately went to get that stick. it was most definitely on the 10th floor with loki's room and some kind of storeroom. you went into the nearest elevator and pressed the button to the 10th floor.

when the elevator arrived on the floor, you rushed into the storeroom and searched everything. every drawer. every shelf. every box.

you were already searching for about 20 minutes and still didn't find anything. you were completely desperate and angry. you took the nearest object and just smashed it against the wall aggressively and hardly.

your hands suddenly started to shake and your heart was beating fast. you were trying to stop yourself from a panic attack when suddenly loki came out of his room.

"y/n?! do you know how many time it is?!"

he sounded and looked like he just woke up, which probably happened because of the loud smash.

"what are you doing here?"
he kneeled down.

"do you know that signal amplifier that harley created?"

"uhm.. this one?"
he picked it up from the ground.

you sighed in relief,
"oh my fucking god loki thank you so much"
you hugged him tightly. you pulled away from the hug and went into the elevator to go back to work.

"wait!"
loki quickly jumped into the elevator before it closed.
"did you even sleep after.. you know? it doesn't look like you did."

you slowly looked over at him with a death stare. he threw his hands up in defense. he started talking again but you were zoned out and completely ignored him.

soon you've finally arrived and rushed back into the lab.

"y/n! are you even listening to me?"

"no"
you said bluntly while sitting down and plugging in the stick.

"y/n i'm serious! have you gotten any decent sleep? dozing off doesn't count!"

"holy shit it works."
you whispered.
"it works!!"
you raised your voice excitingly.

"i'm giving up."
loki sighed and sat down on the chair that pietro placed there the other day.
"so? found him?"

"no dumbass. this shit isn't high technology, it needs time."
you leaned into your chair, looking at how long it takes.
"great."
you said sarcastically.

"at least you can go to sleep now while waiting."
loki suggested.

"no i can't waste my time with sleep. i'm just going to get back to what i did before and try to find more information while waiting."

"and i have no chance to convince you to go to sleep?"

"nope."

"great. good luck then."
loki patted your should, stood up, and left.

you still got hope in finding bucky.
