I heard the low murmur of voices. I strained my ears to try and listen to what they were saying but I was too weak. I couldn't see or hear anything anymore. I moved a finger and grimaced in pain.
"Brent?"
I gritted my teeth and forced my eyes open, to confirm who I heard. Cecilia. I smiled. I opened my mouth to try and speak but no words came out.
"Shhh, don't try. Just, relax," she said softly. I ignored her and opened my mouth again.
"W-w-what happened," I managed to croak out.
She looked down and bit her lip. I grimaced. She honestly has no idea what that small simple thing is doing to me. She got up and grabbed a cup, heading outside the room. When she came back, she handed me the cup. I gulped down the cool liquid. Water. I sighed and leaned back, closing my eyes.
"Brent?"
I opened my eyes and stared at this beautiful angel sitting in front of me, worry in her eyes. I felt bad, knowing that I was causing that.
"Do... Do you remember what happened?"
I closed my eyes and tried to focus on the previous night. The club. The blonde. Her red eyes. The stake coming out from my stomach. The fangs. My eyes flew open.
"How long have I been out," I whispered.
"4 days."
I groaned. I tried to sit up, but strong, warm hands restrained me.
"Brent, your still weak. Just try to not use too much force right now," she said softly.
"Why are you here," I said, my eyes suspicious. She looked shocked.
"Did you want me to... Leave?"
"No, I'm just wondering. How did you find out?"
"I was in the parking lot when..." She trailed off.
"When what," I demanded.
"When you got attacked," she whispered. She closed her eyes, gritting her teeth together. She started shaking uncontrollably. Worry started to fill my senses, and I placed my hand on hers. Her eyes flew open, and she smiled, reaching up to caress my cheek. I closed my eyes and welcomed the gesture.
"I got so scared," she whispered. "I thought I had lost you."
I opened my eyes and stared at her. Lost me? I wanted to feel creeped out. Here was this strange girl, a girl I had never met in my life until a few days ago, telling me she was scared she had lost me. But I couldn't. I felt... Happy. Whole. And quite frankly, proud. This gorgeous, beautiful creature was worried about ME, a meaning less person. I couldn't help smiling, and grimaced when I felt the pain shoot through my face.
"She had red eyes," I said, suddenly remembering.
"Brent-"
"No, Cecilia, I remember. She had red eyes. I-I felt the stake, and... She smiled. Yeah, I remember. She smiled at me," I muttered. I heard a low growl and I looked at Cecilia, her face displaying anger.
"Filthy, reeking, blood-"
"Lily?"
We both turned around and I noticed a guy standing at the doorway.
"What Jackson."
"Um, I don't wanna interrupt but there's something you should come see," he said softly. She sighed. She turned around and smiled at me.
"I'll be back shortly, I promise," she said before walking out. I glared after her. Who was that guy? Her brother? Friend?
Boyfriend? Just thinking about her with another guy made my eyes see red. I clenched my fists, and then relaxed, shocked at my own reaction. What the hell? I looked down, and noticed that my fists were still clenched. Cecilia didn't belong to me. I didn't belong to her. Why did I even care? I gasped silently. Jealousy? No, I wasn't the jealous type. At all. But when I thought about that guy holding her hand, or touching her in any way, a rage grew inside my body. What the hell is wrong with me?
