Mate?

"What do you mean 'mate'?" I asked.

She sighed, then patted the spot next to her. Reluctantly, I moved my feet towards her and sat down. For some reason, I wasn't scared anymore. Questions were burning inside my head.

"It's a long story."

"Well, I do think I deserve an explanation, don't ya think? I mean I did technically see you fight off someone. Or rather, something," I replied, putting more emphasis on the last word. She closed her eyes, and I could've sworn I heard her snarl. Her eyes flew open.

"I'm the Alpha of Black Moon Pack."

I felt my eyes widen. The Alpha?!

"My parents died around a month and a half ago. By vampires. Well, more specifically one. Derek. For years, Derek has been trying to take control of my land, of my pack. That first day I met you, at the mall, that same day, I found out that Derek would attack in two days. But he never did. Remember all those times I left you for a bit?"

I nodded.

"I would go back to my pack. I'm trying to prepare my pack, in case Derek decides to catch us by surprise. Training them, I guess you could say. Brent, you have no idea what sort of creatures exist. No human does actually. Because it's our job to keep our existence a secret. When you were attacked... I don't know what I felt.. I just, I felt so weak, seeing you just laying there, not moving, not knowing if you were gonna live or not. I gave one of my pack members hell for that. He was supposed to have been protecting you, and he didn't. That had to be the worst experience of my life. I almost risked exposing us right there and then. The feelings I felt are just... Indescribable," she said.

I was at a loss of words. Vampires actually existed? A part of me still couldn't believe what I was hearing, but another part of me was jumping with joy, knowing that Cecilia cared about me as much as I cared about her.

"Your still not answering my question."

"Which one?"

"What's a.. 'mate'?"

She looked down, and I could barely make out the light tint of pink rising on her cheeks.

"A mate, is someone that destiny chooses for you to spend the rest of your life with. It's someone who... Keeps you sane, safe. Someone who gives you love. Your soulmate, for lack of a better word. Werewolves only get once chance at a mate," she replied softly.

"When you were literally tearing chunks out of that... Thing... You had called me your mate..." I trailed off, still not sure of what her response would be.

She sighed. "I AM sorry you had to see that. Then again, no one told you to act like a freaking stalker and follow me," she muttered.

"And has no one told you that secrets are never good," I replied.

Cecilia suddenly stood up and kneeled right in front of me. Her actions caused me to lean back a little, but when she leaned forward, I felt my breath hitch at my throat.

"Brent... I love you so much. And I was scared to confess to you what I really am. I was scared that you would run away, and treat me like a monster. But you do have a choice," she whispered.

"What do you mean, a choice," I asked, trying to compose myself.

"Yes, your my mate. Destiny chose you, for me. And I'm grateful, because your perfect in every single way. But you can choose to reject me."

"Reject you?"

"Yes."

I stared silently, at Cecilia. My Cecilia. My sexy werewolf. I wasn't sure what made me do it, but without thinking, I leaned forward, a pressed my lips to hers. To say that the kiss was everything I had expected was an understatement. The passion I felt at that precise moment was something I had never experienced before. I pressed my tongue towards her teeth, urging at her entrance and she obliged. She parted her lips, and our tongues moved in perfect synchronization. I moaned at how delicious she tasted, and how warm she felt. As I pulled back, I saw the light flush on her face, and I smiled.

"Cece....,"

She stared at me, waiting.

"How can I reject the person I love the most in this entire world? I just feel so... Empty when I'm not near you. And if destiny chose us to be together forever, so be it. I wouldn't have it any other way."

She beamed up at me, pressing her forehead against mine. She kissed my nose and I scrunched it up, my eyes pushed together. She burst out laughing and I frowned.

"I'm sorry, but that was just too cute," she said, chuckling.

"I'm not cute," I muttered.

"Yeah, I know."

I stared at her in shock before I saw the teasing glint in her eyes. I laughed and stood her up.

"I love you Cecilia."

"And I love you Mr. Callister."
