FIREBORN

I sit there with my head on the window of Cane's car. I was still shook after that explosion.

"They took her, they took both of them. They blew up my house. I just... I don't know what to do anymore."

"So what actually happened, all we know is that you got a call from Zoe and then you ran off. I was on my way home and I saw your car on the side of the road."

"Yeah, I-I got in a crash. I had to run the rest of the way. By the time I got home it was dark. I went in and no one was there. I went into Makayla's room and saw something under her blanket. It was a bomb. There was a note also. It was signed by TM."

"I'm guessing that was Trevor Manning."

"Most likely, I mean who else could it be. The only thing I don't understand is how they knew about me. The only people who knew what I was actually up to was you guys. I told Nikki but she's strong."

"Yeah it's definitely weird, anyway we're here. Come inside and we'll get you cleaned up." Cane opened the door for me and I got out of the car. The fire was so hot that I was actually burnt. Cane got his first aid kit out and applied some cream to my burns. He washed my cuts and scratches and put a bandage around my arm as it was very soar.

"We can't let them get away with this. We have to do something. It feels like that fire gave me superpowers or something. I feel strong."

"That's called adrenaline my friend. Anyway, you may feel strong but it's definitely not a good idea to go by yourself. I'll call everyone and we can go together."

"No, I don't trust them. One of them has to be the reason Zoe was attacked. I only trust you. If you don't want me to go alone, then come with me."

"Ok, but I think you should rest up just for a couple minutes." He was right. I hadn't stopped thinking of Zoe and Makayla that I was blind to my own suffering. I told him we would just stay for a little while. After a while, though, I dozed off and didn't wake up till 2:10 in the afternoon the next day.
