I woke the next evening as the sun was setting to find myself alone in the bed. Was I dreaming that Soja was here in my bed last night? A quick glance around the room told me I might have if it wasn't for the faint scent of him on the pillow next to me. I could feel my heart skip a beat. Soja was a very attractive man but was it worth jeopardizing this whole work relationship over.

"Fuck," I whispered to myself. "I just slept with the big boss. Shit." I slipped out of bed and went to shower and dressed in skinny jeans and a black tank top. I tiptoed down the stairs hoping no one would say anything about last night and Soja didn't say anything to Tyler about what took place in the room. Maybe if we just acted like none of this happened we could continue on as normal.

I reached the bottom of the stairs and stood next to the home office Tyler was using to conduct his research on his end. He had to discuss with the big wigs up top to get any and all information and send information as well. As Soja was here Tyler more than likely just had to communicate with the scout team instead of keeping tabs with Soja about my condition being out in the feild.

Soja probably took this case in particular to keep a close on me to see how I'd act being back at where it all started. It was like a couldn't catch a break. At least the boss was hot. It more than made up for his inquisitive nature towards me. And sex last night showed how great of a lover he was.

I heard Tyler's and Soja's hushed voices coming from the space of the slightly ajar door. I couldn't make out what they were saying but it became abundantly clear and Tyler yelled out, "You did what?!"

"I know, I know. It shouldn't have happened. I don't know what took over me. I was taking her back to her bedroom but the second I looked into her eyes something captivated me and a hunger took over. It was as if I couldn't control myself. It took all I had just to try to tuck her back in the blankets but her skin was burning. Almost as though she had a fever but she wasn't sick. And I could hear a voice inside my head telling me just to take her and make her mine so that no one else could have her. Like she was my Chosen. As though I was drawn to her by some super natrual force," I could hear Soja explain. His voice was loud and lively. I could feel my cheeks heat up. So much for acting like this whole thing never happened.

We were probably going to have to discuss this at some point today. I don't know what the hell a 'Chosen' is but I'm sure that will be explained to me at some point. But I heard it being thrown around by a couple other vampires we knew.

"I'd say you're insane but I've known you long enough that I know that you're being serious. If it's true and she is your Chosen then don't freak her out by telling her right away. I doubt she even knows what that means. Take it easy and in the mean time we have to focus on these murders. Since you're working with her closely on this one try to be one-hundred percent sure that she is before you tell her." I could hear Tyler pause before I could hear the smile in his voice, "I fucking knew something was eating at you though. You may not have knew exactly what was happening to you but your soul knew. The was you always have me give you updates on her 'condition' and the way you barked at me to move to another seat last night. You've gone predatory. Your instincts have gotten you under their control."

Soja gave a small chuckle before saying in a serious tone, "I wasn't planning on saying anything to her. We need to focus on this case and getting feelings involved might muddy up operations. Maybe when all this is over we'll see where this leads but not now."

Tyler retorted, "I wouldn't do that if I were you. All work and no play can muddle the mind. If y'all end up sleeping together again just let it happen. It might let you think more clearly on other things if you two are able to relieve some stress."

I coughed at the sound of that. They stopped talking immediately and I rushed to put my shoes on and headed out the front door to go for a midnight stroll to clear my head. That last part caught me off gaurd and I nearly choked while breathing.

My cheeks felt hot but the night air felt amazing against my skin. Just thinking of their conversation and then back to Soja's sculpted naked body made me blush.

The crunch of leaves behind the trees made me swivel my head in the direction it came from. The hairs on my arms stood up at the sudden feeling of danger. I tensed and my body got in the attack position ready to pounce on whatever came out in the trees. A teenage boy came running out of the treeline in his boxers covered in blood. He looked at me and yelled, "Run! She'll kill you too if she catches you."

As he said that I could see blonde curly locks start to peek out of the tree line. The girl who had been so confidently running through the forest stopped suddenly barely out of the forest. I could smell the change in her veins. It went from predatory to fearful in the matter of seconds. I started racing towards her as fast as super natrualy possible. I made it to the spot where she was standing catching a vaguely familiar scent as she dissapeared.

I turned back around to the boy who stood frozen with blood dripping from his neck. I could feel my stomach wince in pain due to hunger. I hadn't eaten since last night. I could smell fear radiating from the boy as I walked closer to him. I licked his wounds clean and the boy pissed himself in fear. "What the hell?! Why'd you go and do that for? I'm not going to fucking eat you, relax. You'r wounds are healed now. But you're staying here. You have information I need."

I turned around and the boy said in a whimpering voice, "You're not going to drink my blood? Isn't that what vampires do?" I rolled my eyes and grabbed his arm pulling him inside. Soja and Tyler were sitting in the living room as though the previous conversation never took place.

I slammed the door closed and Tyler jumped up from his chair as I entered the room. He hadn't yet seen the boy and started to talk. "So... you had a nice walk? You're looking refreshed this evening. Could it be something amazing happened to you last night?"

I shot him a look of annoyance. If the situation was any different than maybe I would entertain his childish musings but we had a serious issue on our hands. Soja spoke, "What's that smell? It smells like teppanyaki."

I brought the boy forward. "He has more answers for you about who we're looking for." The men looked astonished.

Soja looked at me and asked, "Where did you find him? And where did all this blood come from? I don't see any wounds on him at all."

Tyler looked at me and said, "You licked him didn't you. Well, at least you got him healed." Soja looked at him when he said that in surprise.

"He ran out of the forest onto the open grounds. He was being chased by someone who I believe is our suspect."

"What's your name?" Soja inquired.

The boy spoke to him in a weak voice, "My name is David, sir. David Whittacker."
