Yawwwn. I stretched and shut my eyes as a few tired tears escaped my eyes. Soja and I had been standing outside of Adrien's family villa all night, and it was well into the morning. The sun is so hot and I just wanted to go back to the loft and fall asleep. Just sleep for a thousand years.
"So what's this guys deal? Why does Abigael want him? And most importantly, why is this one planned? This guy doesn't really do much like a normal 20 year old."
Soja glanced my way, "He's pretty famous in France. His arrival wasn't broadcasted all over the states, but it's still pretty well known. So she would have a hell of a time attacking him and getting away with it. A model would be pretty big news. It would expose the whole Vampire community. She wouldn't probably have a problem if we were exposed, but it would go against her self preservation if she was exposed in the process."
"I can see why she planned it out then. Why do you think him in particular?"
"No idea," he paused and looked down at the beer in my hand. "Tyler told me you enjoy drinking. It's nice to not get drunk anymore, isn't it? Just a little energy boost and numbing the mind."
"Yeah, well, I use it more for a distraction. We do important work, but it never gets easier learning the stories. The drinking is nice, but it doesn't compare to the buzz from ripping someones head off. I fucking love knowing that theirs one less scum on this earth."
Soja gave a slight chuckle. "Good to know, and glad you're on our side. As far as why Adrien in particular, I don't know. But I know someone who might. A priest across town. He's got a past, and a present, but he works with us. So we turn a little bit of a blind eye, but you have full permission to kill him when this is all over."
I knew the priest he was talking about. Calvin. He loved children. More than he should. Hearing that I could take him out, I crushed the beer can. Just the thought of that man makes me want to commit arson.
Even if I didn't have permission to kill him, I would do it anyway. I would turn him into a fancy dinner. His blood would make a fine wine. I would have to remember to take a bottle of it with me back to Paris. It would be a great way to celebrate the end of a mission and a great way to gear up to check my company.
My assistant would thouroughly enjoy a glass as well.
"Let's talk to him tonight after we've had some sleep. I don't enjoy this as much when I'm tired." I smirked as I looked at Soja while waiting for his response.
"Ok. We'll meet up in the kitchen when we wake up, and head out as soon as possible. You're right, we have been up for a while, and I'm starting to get a rash all over my skin from being out in the sun too long."
I looked at his arms. Sure enough, big, angry red patches were starting to form. Only downside to being out in the sun, and being a vampire in general. Get to live forever, but get a serious sun allergy in exchange. Sunscreen and long sleeves became my best friends a while ago.
"You got it boss. You should try a jacket if you're going to be doing field work. It's not like corporate."
Soja just rolled his eyes and turned to get back into the car. Downig the rest of the alcohol, I crushed the can and tossed it before following him. Tonight is a new night.
