David came down the stairs in fresh clothes loaned to him by Soja. New boxers as well while I soaked his bloody ones in cold water.
He looked terrified but somewhat more at ease now that he was in less danger than he was just moments before. Soja wasted no time when he saw David descending the last stair. "What happened tonight?"
David stared at him for a brief moment before looking at me and turning bright red. "Um, well. There was this girl who just entered our night classes. I work on the farm with my father and so I need my mornings free. That's how I met her. Her name is Abigael, and I saw her walking through the halls on her first night. Her blonde hair almost white and she has the most captivating green eyes. She never spoke a word to me until last night. Since tonight's Saturday she asked if I'd like to come over to her place for a party.
I got there following the directions she gave me but when I got there no one was there. I just assumed I was the first. She let me in and we started talking and after about ten minutes her doorbell rang. She got up and let this scrawny kid named Sam in and we all sat down on the sofa in the living room."
"Who's Sam?" Tyler asked.
David seemed caught off guard by the sudden interruption. "He's a Junior. A real computer nerd. He just had his seventeenth birthday yesterday." David's voice shook as he spoke. I could see he was fighting back tears as he spoke.
"Continue," Soja prodded. He was right, there was no time to sit here and cry.
David spoke again, "Well, I don't know how it happened but we ended up in her bedroom, all three of us making out. Sam and I had already stripped down to our underwear and she was in some frilly, white robe with her bra and panties on. I thought we were going to have a threesome but the next thing I knew she had decapitated Sam and she was coming for me next. She had these long fangs and Sam's blood was everywhere. She lunged at me with Sam's head still in her hands and managed to slice my neck.
I don't know how I did it but I managed to get free and I ran. I ran into the woods until I came here. In all honesty I thought this place was abandoned and I had no idea people were living here. Or Vampires. There's talk around town that this place is haunted. A college girl and her mother were brutally murdered here by a crazy axe wielding maniac."
"Well we won't be here long," I said curtly. The last thing I need is to stay here any longer and be reminded of the fact that my mother and I were killed here.
"Tell me what you know about the murders," Tyler said oddly invested in the story.
"Tyler. I don't think that's necessary when all we came down to do is investigate and take care of the murders. This Spider infestation is what we need to be focused on." I looked at Soja, his serious expression also betraying the note of concern in his eyes.
"Hear me out, Soja. This is where the murders took place. Here we are a hundred so odd years later investigating super natural murders in the same place. The first one was for the human girl and her mother we investigated first. Now we're investigating this. This can't be a coincidence." Tyler was making a lot of sense to Soja. A glimmer of realization crossed his face.
I took a seat feeling uneasy by the events unfolding in front of me. If I could still vomit, I would.
Soja nodded his head in agreeance and and gestured for David to proceed.
"I think it took place around 1863. A girl named Purity Constantine had moved back in with her mother to help while she went to study nursing at the local college. Her mother's name was Precious Constantine and she worked as a midwife for the local families. Her father was a plantation owner named Eustis Constantine. He tragically passed in a farming accident when Purity was just five years old leaving the house and plantation to her mother.
One evening as the twenty year old Purity and her fifty year old mother were getting ready for bed for the big Feeders Day Festival the next morning they heard someone banging or hacking at their front door. Her mother told Purity to hide in her mother's closet.
The man gained entry as she and her mother tried to hide and he found them. He first hacked her mother to death in the bedroom and then took her into the room across the hall and proceeded to kill her as well. She was somehow able to shoot him right between the eyes though with the revolver she kept under her pillow for protection in case she ever needed to use it. And by the sounds of it she both failed and succeeded all at once. She did save people in the process. By not letting that sack of shit live she was able to ensure that he couldn't kill anyone else," David finished off his story.
His version of events were pretty accurate but he was missing some details.
"No. She didn't save anyone," I choked. "He wouldn't have killed anyone else. He was too damn obssessed with her to notice anyone else. He was so blinded by what he thought was love that when she left he took that as a sign that she didn't return his feelings. He ended their lives before taking the time to know the situation. If she hadn't had killed him, he would have surely taken his own life after he had taken hers. He couldn't bare the thought of having to live without her in the world so he wanted to die too in order to be with her in the after life.
It doesn't excuse any of his actions. She loved him in return up until the day he took everything from her. When he took her mother, her purity, and her life. That is when she stopped loving him. She died knowing that her love was not good enough. She died. She died feeling empty inside, as all the emotions she had felt for him dissipated in a bloody blur of tears.
That day, that day was the day that her love for him died alongside her."
