Alhaji Ismail had his eyes on Fateh the whole time they spent in the mosque. He watched the young man walk around, his posture emanating grace and confidence.
Power ripple from each hand he shook and Alhaji Ismail could tell Fateh's dominating and intimidating aura has strongly affected the men who found it hard to maintain eye contact while congratulating him, their bowed heads and shy smile is a proof of his powerful personality.
When Fateh stepped out to answer his phone, Alhaji had been quick to follow suit. Standing a good distance away from his now son-in-law, Alhaji Ismail could not make out what conversation Fateh was having but from the clouding in his expression was suggesting the conversation wasn't a good one.
He had followed Fateh outside to get an explanation for the change in the wedding day but at that moment, Alhaji Ismail dejectedly went back into the mosque. The marriage has been sealed, whatever explainable reason Fateh had has been rendered useless, Alhaji has already lost this battle.
Fateh, on the other, looked as though his world had come to an end. In a way, it had, it was like try to take away a child's favorite toy.
He sat alone in his car to calm himself down before calling the last person he thought he would call for help.
Yasin picked up almost immediately, " hello fateh?" concern was evident in his voice. Unspoken words were exchanged between the two men and when fateh found his voice to speak, it broke Yasin's heart, his brother hadn't been like this in a really long time.
He could not imagine what his brother was going through and wished he was there to give him support but he too is helpless in this situation.
"My calls were tapped yesterday" Fateh said, breaking the eerily silence that is going on. Yasin let out audible breaths and waited for his brother to continue but he knew Fateh will not add anything further.
"Let me guess" Yasin spoke after a while " your plans were foiled?" He asked through the throbbing headache he's experiencing.
Fateh shook his head as if they were seeing each other " not exactly, i got halfway through with it before..."he paused, unspoken words hanging in the air, "that is why i need your help" he added desperately.
Yasin saw this coming, again he has found himself between two storms and whichever one he choose, will destroy him alongside every other thing in its way.
He had spent the better part of the day weighing his options, striking a balance is out of question, he had to choose. He is in the crossroads again and he has alot at the stakes of it.
Patience isn't something a guy like Fateh is used to doing but today, he waited for his brother to finish raking his brain and make a choice. Whether or not he decides to help him, fateh will not relent. He has to win this time.
By the break of dawn, Noor had finished packing all the necessary things she needed for her new journey in life with a man she doesn't even know let alone love.
Mami had informed her that her room will always be hers and there's no need to empty it out and that has made her packing way more easier but still she needs to store the things she is going to leave behind properly.
Her eyes had been staring at the last mini trolley box she hadn't yet opened. It came with a label, amongst all the other labeled boxes Fateh had sent to her, this one was labeled 'wedding day'.
She was hesitant about opening it up but was also curious as it was the only box that came in her favorite color, teal green, it also has her initials on it - NI (Noor Ismail)- with another initial which she assumed represented her new marital status- NFM (Noor Fateh Muhammad) she read in her mind.
