Chapter 21

I faintly feel being put on an ambulance. The elastic of an oxygen mask presses against the gash on my cheek. Someone forces one of my eyes open and shines a light in it. Something is yelled about my dilation.

I see Cas sitting by my side with Clint, no one else seems to notice him though. He looks torn, it's about as much emotion as I've ever seen cross his face. Moments later, he takes a deep breath and touches two fingers to my forehead.

Bright light fills my vision, I feel like my insides are twisting and turning. When the light clears I'm in a hospital room, Cas is there.

"I healed you." He answers my unasked question.

"Th- Thanks?" Is all I can say in surprise, I want to ask if he'll get in trouble for it, but can't find the words.

Once I do, he's gone. Just gone. Like that, no other explanation. Then Clint comes in too, tells me that my body healed it's self and he managed to convince the doctors to let me go.

I manifest new clothes and make myself presentable. He decide to go for lunch, because getting stabbed won't stand in the way of a burger. We take out own cars and I get there first.

"What'd they want?" He meets me in the parking lot.

"Strike Initiative. Something about a... Zola's algorithm." I recall.

"What's that?"

"No idea, something about it couldn't figure us out, my team that is."

"Weird. Well, let's split before they decide to interrogate you about your interrogation."

"Zola." He mutters, trying to piece it together.

"Don't bother with it. Probably made it up to distract me from Strike and spill." I don't believe myself but I don't feel like talking about it.

We agree to discuss it later tonight back at his place. Maria joins us too, she's obviously stunned to see me healthy.

"Wha- what happened?" She stutters .

"I couldn't die before I had a burger."

"She can heal herself." Clint elaborates.

"Shesh, don't tell all my secretes."

"Anything else you can do out if the ordinary?"

"Make things appear from thin air."

"Okay, just curious, didn't need the sarcasm." She rolls her eyes.

"No seriously." And I manifest a baseball cap to do it.

"What the hell." She mutters. "-What else can you do?"

"Heal people, manifest, transfer images, I've sorta got this angle on my shoulder-" I run off the list of my oddities.

"Woah girl, one at a time, we've got the whole, 'making things out of thin air' thing covered. Now, healing?" She stops me.

"It's manifesting and, here."

Aminee presses herself into my hand at my call. I cut across my palm, it stings but I'll survive. A line of blood trails the knife. After replacing her in my boot; I curl my hand in on itself and heal the small wound. Like always my focus is on healing. A little tingle later I open my hand to reveal healthy, smooth skin.

"Okay, next." She nods once, slowly, taking it in.

I grab Maria's hand and imagine her walking on a warm beach with a floppy hat, sun dress, wind blowing softly. A lovely fall afternoon really. I send the image through her finger tips, up her nervous system and into her mind. Seeing it process and really become clear it obvious.
