Chapter 9

On the way home we stopped at Academy, I got two plain black swimsuits to do laps in. I got some other stuff, including dog shampoo, Baby needs a bath.

When we got home, the house was empty except for Baby, who was ecstatic to see me and was waiting by the door. When I walked in she was so excited, she playfully knocked me down and freaked out, she's adorable. I assumed there was a dog door because she didn't need to go out and pee.

Taking my things up to my room hung everything up. Baby ran in once I got my suit on, I got her all riled up and playful then jumped in the water, she hesitated and barked at the water, I stayed under for a few moments then jumped up and grabbed her, pulling her in the pool, she loves the water. She paddles around for a bit then sits in the shallow part. I swim for about an hour uninterrupted. When see someone standing on the bridge I stop. It's Natasha.

"I've got the personality profiles of all the current possible recruits, and the newest Stark phone Tony wants to test on you. I'll leave them on your desk, be up at nine, were starting combat training." She says, starting towards my study. It's only seven I realize, it gets dark early this time of year.

"Okay, I'll take a look at them, thanks." I say, getting out of the pool.

"Yup, you hungry? I'm making chicken salad sandwiches." Natasha says, walking out of the study.

"Celery?" I asked.

"You want celery in it?"

"Nope." I grunt, pulling myself out of the water.

"Kay', I'll be down stairs." She says.

I get out, dry off and think about what I should do with Baby. I'll give her a bath in a bit. For now I just dry her off, leaving her damp, but not dripping like she was. Putting on the new sweats, underwear, sports bra and soft tee we got from various different stores. I head down stairs, Baby in tow. Natasha's sitting at the tabel, I grab a paper plate and three sandwiches. I sit down and put the three files I grabbed before I came down in between us.

"Let's see." I say, giving Baby half a sandwich and grabbing the top one, Natasha looks up.

"Simone Timmons, fourteen, bi- racial, shape- shifter?" I read the last part like a question.

"The Timmons' lived in the Ghetto, by a power plant in Britain when she was born, parents were involved in a hit and run two years ago. She's living with her aunt, she can turn into different people and animals." Natasha answers.

"How do know all that?"

She looks at something on her phone then shows me the screen.

"Her computer caught this, we had kept tabs on her and the camera was running to our system." She says while the video runs.

I see the girl who's picture was on the folder. She's pretty, in the video her hair looks wet, she stands in front of a mirror, she closes her eyes and moments later, she's gone, on the floor is a; lizard? Then, she's back, her hair perfectly dry, bit frizzy and out of control. Again she closes her eyes, her hair straightens it's self, it just goes down, thins out and smooths. The screen goes black.

I pinch my lip, like I do when I think, over the last few days, less and less surprises me. I think, how useful could that be in combat, I need to think like a leader. I need to know what everyone can bring to the table, how can you protect us? I have to act like I've already got a team, one that I care about. So now I ask myself, how can she protect Baby if I die. She can be an excellent spy, get on the inside.

"I like it, she would be useful, but at the same time if she were to rouge, it wouldn't be hard to detach from her. What's she like? Personality wise?" I observe aloud.
