A/N
This chapter starts right when the last one ended.
My eyes opened in the middle of the night. I heard strange noises coming from near me that what woke me up. I shifted to my side. I saw Bucky in his bed, all in sweat. He was the one making those noises, whispering incompressible words in his sleep. I figured he was having one of his nightmares. I stood up and went to his bedside.
I got onto my knees next to his bed. I had no idea what to do at that moment. I wanted to wake him up and asked if he was okay, but I wasn't sure it was the right thing to do. I knew I had to do something, I couldn't just leave him there, in his bad dream. I extended my arm and reached for his face. I placed my hand on his cheek, stroking it. He froze at my touch.
"Hey, Bucky. It's me, wake up," I slowly whispered, getting closer to his face. From then, it all happened so fast. He woke up, took my wrist in his hand and put his metal one around my throat, choking me. I was quick enough to use my powers and push him back.
"It's me, it's just me Bucky, Ellie. You're okay, you're safe. I'm here," I said quickly. We were both breathing heavily. He looked at me and all I could see were his eyes filled with fear.
"Ellie, oh my god, I- I'm so sorry. I really didn't mean to hurt you. I was having a nightmare and-" he started but then stopped.
"Bucky it's fine, I understand. Are you okay though?" I asked him worried.
"You're really asking if I'm okay? Am I not the one who just choked you?" He said. I let out a small giggle.
"Right. But I'm okay, but are you?" I asked again. He smiled at me, which made me smile too.
"I'm fine Ellie, it was just a nightmare. I'm really, really sorry for hurting you though. I really didn't mean to, I'm just so fucked up," he answered. He kept his head down. I shook my head softly.
"You're not. Nothing of this is your fault, okay?" I told him, trying to comfort him as best as I could. He looked back up at me. He felt vulnerable.
"No actually, it is my fault. I am the one who hurt you. I am the one who can't control myself for doing horrible things. I am the one who ends up hurting someone who doesn't deserve it," his eyes were locked on mine. I used both my hands and cupped his face.
"Bucky, listen to me," I started talking while stroking the side of his face. "I'm perfectly fine now, I'm not hurt. Nothing bad happened. Don't worry about it, okay?"
"But something bad could've happened. We're lucky enough you were fast enough and pushed me away," he argued. I sighed.
"Look, let's talk about it in the morning, okay? I think we both need sleep right now," I said adding a smile. He silently nodded. I stood up to go back to my own bed.
"Hey, Ellie?" Bucky said and I turned back to look at him. "Would you mind, like, sleeping here for the rest of the night? Like in my bed, I don't think I would be able to sleep alone."
I slightly nodded and went back to his bed. He moved to the side so I could slide under the covers. I laid down next to Bucky, in his bed, facing him. He was facing me too. We looked at each other and just smiled.
"Goodnight, Ellie," Bucky whispered.
"Goodnight, Bucky" I answered.
We both shifted to comfortable potions and went back to sleep.
***
The next morning, Bucky and I woke up at the same time. We were way closer than when we went to sleep in the middle of the night. He was laying on his back, I was laying on my front, and our hips were slightly touching. My arm was resting on his bare chest.
