Talia's POV

After Shawn mentioned me that one day in an interview, my Twitter notifications were always full of questions

and hate.

I know I shouldn't let it get to me, celebrities deal with it all the time. They consider it irrelevant most of the time. But when it's on a slightly smaller scale and people know how to get to you, it's hard.

Even Caroline was receiving hate and questions about me. How they found her, I have no idea. Caroline was better at dealing with it, she would brush it off her shoulder saying, "haters gonna hate". I would smile and laugh along with her but once I was alone, I couldn't help but let the thoughts consume me.

'Ew, why did he pick you you're ugly'

'You don't deserve an access pass and 3 weeks with him you greedy little bitch'

'You're the winner? Shawns gonna be disappointed'

'I feel bad for him, he has to spend three weeks with you'

These tweets were the few of hundreds. The nice ones were uplifting but another bad one would bring me right back down.

I started to believe them.

Shawn's POV

"So Shawn, how are you enjoying Berlin?" an interviewer asked me before she translated it into German for the viewers.

"It's an amazing place. Not all that different, you even sound American when you speak English."

She laughed "Really? You think so?"

"Yeah with just a hint of a German accent." The crowd laughed.

"Would you like to sing for us now?"

"Of course." I smiled, getting up and walking over to the mic that was set up by my guitar. The girls in the audience cheered and smiled.

I started to strum, playing 'Something Big' first.

I was about halfway through the song when the interviewer stopped me. "Sorry Shawn, we just need to plug your guitar into the amplifier." She explained and the girls in the crowd laughed a bit.

"I thought it sounded soft! I tried to fix it," I said with a smile. "should I start over?"

"Yes, yes. Please do."

I started over with 'Something Big' before singing 'Life of the Party' too. I swear, I always play my more popular songs. I'd like to play another one once in a while.

I can't wait for my album with all the new songs I poured everything into.

"Well Shawn, thanks for coming today!"

I smiled and waved before walking off the stage.

"And cut!" the camera man shouted, signaling that the interview was over and the girls could leave.

I blew them all a kiss with a smile before going out of the room.

I barely walked a few feet before Andrew was by my side.

"Shawn listen, the girl who won the contest, Talia, is receiving a lot of hate from the fans. What do you want to do about it? Now that she's associated with you, I've been monitoring her Twitter along with yours. It seems pretty bad."

"I'll call her at the hotel and talk to her about it and I'll tweet the fans too." I replied, getting into the car. I have about 4 hours before I have to go get ready for another performance tonight.

I'm surprised Andrew was concerned for her, usually he's all business, no emotion. He is a good person despite that.

When I arrived at the hotel, there were fans outside. I took a few pictures before I apologized and rushed into the lobby. It was only a minute elevator ride before I was on my floor and at the door, swiping the key.

I jogged into the bedroom and jumped onto my bed. Ah, finally. I remembered what I had told Andrew and pulled out my phone, clicking on 'Talia Gregory' in my contacts.

Talia's POV

"Mom, I'm doing homework, I'll do the dishes later!" I called to her downstairs as I rolled my eyes. This history paper will be the death of me.

"You can't walk the streets at night, you're way too short to get on this ride..." My phone sang.

I got up and picked it up off my dresser. I didn't recognize the number. Why was someone calling me from Germany?

Hey, screw it. I pressed answer, wondering what I was getting myself into.

"Hello?"

"Hey Talia."

It only took me a few seconds to recognize the voice.

"Shawn?!" I asked, excitement in my voice.

"Yes it's me. Please don't freak out, you will have to get used to this if you're coming on tour with me."

"I'm not, and that will take some getting used to." I laughed.

So did he. Wow his laugh is so cute.

"So listen, my manager told me you've been getting a lot of hate from the fans lately. You okay?"

"I'm doing okay, but it gets to me most of the time. I never realized how hateful girls can really be."

"Don't worry about it. They're just jealous because they didn't win and you're so beautiful."

Shawn Peter Raul Mendes just called me beautiful. I swear I must be dreaming.

"Well thank you. They just seem to confirm my fears about being on tour with you."

"I'm excited to meet you, it'll be nice to have another person to talk to other than producers and Andrew. I only talk to my friends on my phone usually. Technically, I'm the winner here."

I'm glad he couldn't see me blush.

"Talia Grace! Get your butt down here and do the dishes before I make you clean Chase's room for a whole week!"

I groaned. "Coming!" Shawn just laughed through the phone. He must've heard my mom.

"I better let you go. I can't wait to meet you, don't let the hate get to you. I'll tweet the fans in a few minutes and hopefully most of them will stop. I know it can get to be a little too much. You can deal with it, I know you can. Talk to you soon!"

"Bye Shawn. Thanks for everything."

"Bye Tal. Remember you'll never be alone."
