{Haley's POV}
I slumped back down in my seat and replayed everything that just happened. I saw Liam again. He read my book. He didn't try to contact me. I said I had to go then walked away. I can't believe I said I have to go, really? I'm on a plane where the bloody hell would I go? I was coming back from the bathroom the only other option is to go to my seat!
I let out a deep sigh then closed my MacBook as a girl, maybe a year younger than I am, walked over to me and stood there with a smile. She looked oddly familiar. I gave her the best fake smile I could as she said "Hi I'm Izzie. Liam's friend." Once she said his name a tear escaped from my eye and I quickly wiped it away, trying not to let this stranger see me at my lowest point.
The subject of Liam has always been my sensitive spot. Family and friends know not to bring him up unless they want me to cry. The only times he has been spoken about was if it happened by accident. Whoever talked about him would shoot me a look of pity then change the subject.
"Hey, I'm Haley." I said with a fake smile, but I knew she could see right through me. "Are you okay?" I nodded my head and tried to avoid eye contact since I lied. I've never been very good at it, She sat down in the seat next to mine, turned towards me and said "I know we just met but any friend of Liam's is a friend of mine." She giggled as looked at her and tried my hardest to be happy, but she said his name making my heart hurt even more. "I feel like I've seen you before." I stated and continued to stare at her. She giggled then blushed a little. "I'm in a band. You might of heard of it. We're called Modified." Oh okay I've heard her music a few times. "With three other guys right?" She nodded her head. Now I know exactly who she is! But how does she know Liam?
"I love your book by the way." She blurted out then blushed. Wow she blushes a lot. "Thanks." I gave her a real smile. I love when people compliment my book, it makes me feel like I'm actually good at writing. "But I came here to talk about Liam." She said with a straight face but then broke into a smile. "I'm sorry I can't hold a straight face." She said then started to laugh. Seconds later I joined in with her.
Once we both stopped I knew that sooner or later I'd have to tell her. If she's here to check on me or even if she's only here because of Liam I have to tell her. But maybe he already told her the whole thing. No, because there's not only Liam's side of this story. There's also mine. "Do you want to know the whole story?" I asked, regretting it once the words slipped off my tongue. But once she nodded I completely regretted my question.
I told her about how we met, how close our families became, about the last day we saw each other, and how much I loved him. Tears fell down my cheeks as I told the story. I finished off by saying "Once he stayed with the boys for that week and started the X-Factor he stopped texting, and never answered my calls so I stopped trying. Then years passed and I knew our relationship never meant as much to him as it did to me. But now every time I look at my book I think about him." She engulfed me in a hug as tears were running down her cheeks too. Girls are like this. When we hear a sad story we feel pity for the person no matter how mean of a person someone is. But neither I nor Izzie have been mean to each other, she's just truly a caring person.
"Is Ryder based off of Liam?" It finally hit her how I wrote the book about Liam. Not that she knew any better though. Maybe Liam didn't tell her his side of the story. "Yeah, but I twisted a few things and the ending is way different." She nodded and gave me the very familiar sympathetic smile that I get from everyone when the topic is Liam. "Here is my number. Call me if you ever want to hang or talk. I live in California but I'll be in England for a while." She said while writing her number on a napkin. Once she finished I took the pen from her then wrote my number on another napkin and handed it to her. "Please fasten your seat belts we will be starting to land." The over head said then Izzie stood up saying, "You should talk to Liam soon." I shrugged my shoulders as she walked back up to seats. Maybe I should. But after this flight we'll be going our separate ways again.
