{Haley's POV}

"I'm here. I brought cookies." I called out as I walked into my parents house. Andy, Max and I stopped by my flat after shopping and they helped me bake cookies then dropped me off here. I'm not the best chef, I usually make myself something simple to eat or I order in food. On Sunday nights I go to my parents house for family dinner. I'm an only child so it's just me, my mum, and my dad. It's like family bonding.

No one answered but I did hear talking in another room but it wasn't just my parents. As I walked into the kitchen my mum walked in with a glass of wine. "Hi sweetie." She said with her British accent. I gave her a sweet smile then placed the cookies on the island. "Are those edible?" My mum joked, knowing how terrible of a cook I am. "Ha ha very funny. And yes they are Andy and Max helped me. Well they baked them and I supervised." My mum giggle and gave me a quick hug. "Where's dad?" I asked wondering if dad had a few friends over. Usually when he does he'll warn me and I'll bring Max or Andy along so I'm not lonely. "He went out to get pints and pick up dinner." My dad rarely drinks alcohol, only when someone special is over. "We have a few old friends over." My mum said happily as she took a sip of wine.

Ruth and Nicola Payne ran up to me and pulled me into a group hug. I tried to wrap my arms around them and hug them back. "Oh my gosh hi!" They screamed in unison. I let out a giggle "Hi!" I yelled back. We pulled out of the hug and I gave them each a separate hug. "How have you been?" Nicola asked me. "I've been good. How have you guys been?" I asked while shoving my hands in my back pockets. "We've been good." Ruth told me still smiling. After our little reunion Mr. and Mrs. Payne came over to me and said hello. I was a bit disappointed Liam wasn't here but he has a busy life so it's not like I'm heart broken.

It was worth driving two and a half hours so I could see them. After the whole Liam thing I kind of separated myself from the Payne's. I never asked my parents to do the same but soon their contact with each other wasn't as much as it used to be after Liam and I stopped talking. The Payne's and my parents friendship was built of off mine and Liam's.

After ten minutes of talking for a bit my Dad finally walked in with the pizza's. We don't usually cook for family dinner and the Payne's are like family so they don't mind. "Hey baby doll." My dad said with his Irish accent as he placed the pizza on the kitchen table then kissed the top of my head. "Hi dad." Right after Liam walked in with a case of beer. "Hi Hale." He said with a huge grin on his face. I gave him a half hearted smile and said "Hi." His smile slowly faded as he sat down across from me at the table. Between the two of us you could cut the tension with a knife.

It wasn't that we were mad at each other, it was mostly awkward. He hurt me so badly that it felt weird seeing him face to face.

We all ate at the dining room table making small talk. "Haley can I ask you a question?" Ruth asked then took a sip of her Cola. "Yeah." I said placing my slice pizza down on my plate ready to answer her question. It's most likely related to my book because usually when people say 'can I ask you a question' it's related to Liam or my book, and Ruth knows better than to ask about Liam in front of the boy himself. "I know this sounds weird but was it awkward writing that sex-scene in your book." I chuckled a little at her question. I get this question a lot. "Um it kind of was. But when you have experience with something it's easier to write about it." Liam choked on his pizza, looking me straight in the eye. "Y-you have experience with that?" Why does he care? He is the one left me in the dust, not caring about what was going to happen in my life. "I'm nineteen it's not like you haven't." I snapped. He looked down at his pizza and I looked down at mine knowing my mum is shooting daggers at me.

"So how did you get the idea for your book?" Mrs. Payne asked me breaking the silence. I let out a sighed and started to play with the bottle tab on my can of Cola. "The beginning was about something I went through but I changed his name and in real life he left for a different reason and I made up the middle and ending." Liam looked at me with concern filled in his eyes as if he knew what I was talking about, tears layered his eyes along with mine.
