Chapter 9

{Hale's POV}

Maybe I do love Liam, but every time I think about loving him the thought of him leaving me again comes to my mind. "I guess." I said then started picking at my nail polish. "Why are you so unsure?" I bit my lip and looked up at him. My eyes filled with tears as Simon looked at me concerned. I blinked back the tears and said "I'm scared that if I love him he'll leave again." Simon let out a deep sigh and stared at me. "Liam is a great guy I'm not sure he would do that." I ran my hand through my hair and stated the truth. "I know he is a great guy but if he did it once he could do it again." He was about to say something but my phone started to ring. "Sorry. One minute." He nodded as I looked at my the caller I.D. Mum. Huh, she doesn't usually call randomly.

"Hey mum I'm-"

"Honey your father is under Cardiac Arrest."

"W-what?"

"It'a from him smoking."

The tears were flowing down my cheeks as Simon moved to the chair next to me and comforted me by rubbing circles in my back.

"What hospital are you at?"

"Saint Anthony's."

"I'll be there in a few minutes."

"Okay honey. I love you."

"I love you to mum."

Simon handed me a tissue as I stood up. "M-my dad is under a Cardiac A-arrest." I stammered through my sobs. "Go to the hospital. Keep me updated, okay?" I nodded then walked out still crying.

When I got to the boys Louis and Niall were smiling at their phones, Harry and Zayn were whispering stuff to each other, and Liam was sitting their watching Zayn and Harry nervously. All their eyes shot up as they saw me hiccup from crying. Liam shot out of his chair and ran over to me. He wrapped his arms around me and I cried into his chest. "What happened? What did he say? Did he get mad at you?" He rambled. I shook my head and pulled away so I could look at him. "My d-dad is under a c-cardiac a-a-arrest." His facial expression went blank as if he couldn't process what I just said. He wiped away one of my tears then kissed the top of my head. "I'm taking you to the hospital." I simply nodded my head as he wrapped his arm around my waist. He looked at the boys and said "Go to Hale's and watch Luther." They all nodded.

The car ride was silent. My sobs turned into silent tears as I stared out the window. I saw Liam sneak glances at me with worry in his eyes.

When we got there I froze, my tears stopped and I just sat still. "I can't go in there." Liam looked at me, his eyes were full of tears but not one fell. He was always close with my dad so this must as hard for him as it is for me. "Do it for your dad." I looked at him and a single tear rolled down his cheek. I wiped it away with my thumb as he said "You have to be strong for him." I nodded my head then exited the car. Liam met me in front of his car and grabbed my hand.

As we walked in a large whiff of Lysol hit me. I've never liked hospital, I know it's where people are born but it's also where people die. "Kenneth Harthrow." Liam said to the older looking woman at the front desk. She nodded then looked at the computer. "I don't think I can do this." I whispered to Liam. He gave my hand a slight squeeze then kissed my temple. "Yes you can." I sighed as the woman looked back at us. "Room 313." Really it had to have a 13 in it. 13 is an unlucky number. I hate today so much.

We walked down the hallway without speaking as I looked at the numbers on the doors. Liam held on tight to my hand, I know he hates hospitals more then I do because his whole kidney situation.

When we reached my dad's room I froze. "I can't. I just can't. I want to go home. Please bring me home." I begged while the tears started to fall again. Liam wrapped his muscular arms around me and pulled me close. He kissed the top of my head and I felt his warm tears drip off his face and onto my head. "Do it for your dad. He loves you and probably wants to see you." I gave him a tight squeeze then let go. "Come in with me please." I begged and he nodded. He grabbed hold of my hand then walked in.
