(Reader's P.O.V.)

This is very different from stocking books. I mean... I already knew it was going to be different but this is way more than I imagined. As my new teacher had explained to me, the Master Emerald is responsible for keeping the island afloat and it's the duty of the guardians to protect it from thieves who want to abuse its power. My clumsiness, however, still seems to get in the way. For as long as I can remember, I've always seemed to have two left feet. One way or another, I seem to mess up even the basics. My cousin taught me that instead of crying over the things I mess up, I should laugh. She said if I laugh it off then whatever I messed up won't seem so bad. She's always been like a sister to me, I miss her. "(Y/N)! Pay attention!" "S-Sorry..." Knuckles sighs, "As I was saying, the Master Emerald can't normally be destroyed. The only person capable of doing so is me." I hear him mutter something after that but it's incoherent. "Okay, now that we've got that out of the way, let's start with some basic combat. It's important that you know how to fight so you can defend the Master Emerald from danger. Put up your fists, I'm going to teach you some boxing." It takes some long hours before I'm able to throw a half-decent punch. Seeing that I'm not very strong he asks Tails to give me a taser. Then the unthinkable happens. Well I guess given the world I live in it's not that unthinkable but it means I have to camp out on Angel Island by myself. "What's so bad about that?" I hear my cousin on the phone. As I was packing my bags, I decided to give her a call to tell her the news. "I've never been given this kind of responsibility before. What if I muck it up?" "You'll do great!
