Chapter 76

"Ahsoka will be given a trial by the Council. I know you will be waiting alone for the news on her case, so I told the men you would wait with them" Anakin explained to me on our way to the barracks. 

"Thank you, Anakin" I sent him a small smile of appreciation, entering the barracks where we had found the men lounging around casually.

"General Jayko" Rex and his brothers immediately stood at attention in my presence. I simply waved it off and moved to sit on a crate off to the side, not wanting to be treated as though I was higher than anyone today. "General, everything alright?" Rex quietly walked over to check on me.

"I'm just worried for Ahsoka, I know she didn't do it but I can't prove it" I groaned in frustration at how I wasn't able to help my best friend.

"I'm sure everything will work out" he tried to calm me down a bit. Everyone sat in silence as we waited for the news from Anakin on how the trial went. Tup had been flicking his hair elastic back and forth with Jesse, while Kix took a nap on his own bunk. Rex and Fives sat beside each other, watching as I paced back and forth with nerves

"General, stop pacing your making me dizzy" Fives complained, falling back on his cot with a huff.

"Sorry" I mumbled an apology as I stopped my movement guiltily.

"Take a seat, Lyra" Rex patted the spot next to him on his bunk as all his brothers smirked to themselves and went quiet. As soon as I had sat down the doors opened and a sad looking Anakin entered the room.

"What happened?" I asked with excitement, standing to my feet hurriedly, but that quickly faded when he met my eyes.

"They banned her from the Jedi order."

"What?" I questioned as all the clones sat up and looked over, taking in the news.

"The senate will be giving her a trial with Padme as her representative but it's not looking good" Anakin continued to explain the situation Ahsoka was now in.

"There has to be a way to prove her innocence" Rex spoke up with some hope, seeing how my face had fallen.

"Unless we find the culprit, she will be found guilty" Anakin sighed.

"Then we find out who did it" Rex stood beside me, setting a hand on my shoulder. I looked over at him with a smile for his attempt to help.

"Ahsoka said she thinks Ventress is behind this" Anakin started. "I'm going to find her and get her to confess. You will stay here in case I find anything" he instructed me. "Rex, keep her calm" he nodded to me again while giving his Captain the orders.

"Yes, sir" the Captain nodded at the plan before Anakin left to find Ventress.

"Ventress said that the culprit has her lightsabers" Anakin commed me from wherever he was in search for answers.

"Well that doesn't help" I scolded with frustration.

"I wasn't finished, she also said that Ahsoka contacted Barriss"

"You don't think?" I began to ask.

"Just go check it out please. I'll meet you up there" he told me before ending the transmission.

"Where are you going, General?" Fives asked when I quickly shut the book I had been reading before and stood to leave.

"I got a clue" I told them simply with a shrug.

"Good luck" Rex offered with a hopeful smile. I sent him a nod and rushed out to find Barriss in the temple, hoping she would be there.

I had reached Barriss' room, taking a deep breath before knocking on the door.
