Chapter 6 : Abby
The students heading to the third floor staircase backed away as all they could do was watch her to roll down. When she landed on the floor, suddenly someone touch her on back. The students who passed by stopped their gaze in our direction as they start to gossip. Her hair became disheveled as her two friends ran towards her. Heather whine in pain while her eyes remained shut tightly as her growl gradually became wept. My knees and feet stiffened as my tongue receded, at the same time Zack came running towards her. Her boyfriend.
"H-Heather," he mentioned her name several times until he looked up at me, eyebrows are meeting. "Y-you? What did you do to my girlfriend? Do you know who you are colliding with?!"
"B-b-babe, tinulak niya ako!" she vociferate as I immediately shook my head as water condensed in my eye.
"H-hindi ako nanula-"
"Tarantado ka bakit mo tinulak!" he raged as his word echoed in our place. They all fell silent as a needle sank into my hammered chest while a hot liquid crawled down my cheek.
I shook as I tried to pull out a word even though my voice cracked. "H-hindi-"
"You liar! We saw you pushed Heather!" the brunette girl fuel up. "President Diana even saw it. Surely makararating iyan sa principal nang ma-expell ka,"
"What commotion is going on here?" someone interjected as my eyes hit the heels while I looking up at her magenta pencil-cut skirt pairing with magenta coat and her black feathered hair. My heartbeat stopped when I recognized her. Crap. Mrs. Sullivan.
Her eyes got widened while she knelt down Heather. "J-jusko! What happened to you? M-ms. Astor!"
"M-ma'am," Diane stutter.
"Tumawag ka ng nurse! Hurry up!"
"Yes ma'am,"
They sent a stretcher and laid Heather down. It's dismissal time. I ended up sitting in one of the chairs just next to the principal's office door while silently staring at my tear-stained hands as I listened to Mrs. Sullivan and Diana's conversation inside the office. Diana was also scolded for being careless. I would have liked to join in and say it's not her fault but we could just be told we were rude, even though we just wanted to express our side. Now they are going to call my parents and Heather's. I hope I don't get expelled. I also don't want to be suspended. I don't want to miss lectures. It will be hard for me when I can no longer keep up with the flow.
Suddenly the door opened as I immediately wiped away the tears that were scattered on my cheek. Diana sat down next to me and sighed. We both fell silent and spaced out for a moment until I decide to broke the silence. "You believe me, don't you?" I asked, almost a mutter as I got no response from her. I clenched my fist as I took a deep breath. "P-parang ayaw mo naman ako paniwalaan. You know me, Diana. I can't do that,"
I took her a while to answer. "Viola, I don't know who I'm going to believe during the scene. I'm surprised. A-and I didn't expect that," she stated. "When Ma'am Sullivan asked me, I didn't know what to answer. So later they'll ask for your explanations, in front of Heather's parent and yours," she held my hand. "If they didn't believe you, we got your back, girl,"
From the tightness of the air in my chest, was reduced because of what she said. Just minutes later I found myself inside the office with dad as we faced Heather with an arm sling bandage on her right arm, while she's with her mother who had shoulder-length blonde hair with thick lipstick on her lips. His mother looked at me from head to toe as she gave me a glare. "This woman? What did she do to you?"
"She pushed me on the staircase, mom."
I shook my head. "Stop bluffing."
"You liar! They saw what you did! Many have witnessed you. You even buried your nail in my other arm!"
