Halley...
After I showed Michael to Emily's room, I took off down the hall toward the daycare Melody spends most of her time at. I open the door to the playroom and find the little green eyed girl playing with her friends. "Hey Mel." I say.
"Auntie Halley! Are you here to play?" The young girl asks excited.
"No Mel, not today. I have to talk to you in the hall okay?"
"Why? Is it mummy?" She questions tears brimming in her eyes. Melody is a smart young girl, she knows her mum is dying and she knows what death is, we can't fool Melody and honestly her smartness is often aggravating because of this fact.
"No baby, your mummy's fine, I just have some news."
"Is it good news?"
"Kinda, sorta."
"Okay," she agrees and happily skips over to the glass door which the nurse unlocks once I sign Melody out of the log. "What's the news?" She asks bouncing on her heels.
"You know papa is you mums daddy, right?"
"Yes,"
"You know Tammi (her cute little friend) has a daddy?"
"I think so." She answers.
"Well see everyone has a daddy, I have a daddy, your mum has a daddy, everyone has a daddy."
"Do I have a daddy?" she inquires.
"Yes, you have a daddy."
"Do I know him?"
"Not yet, but that's what I'm here to talk to you about. Your daddy is a very busy man and he couldn't come and visit, until today, he's here to meet you for the first time ever. His name is Michael Clifford and he's in a band called 5 Seconds of Summer, he's a very talented man and he is going to be very very nice to you okay?"
"Okay. When can I meet him?" I check my phone and see a text from Emily letting me know it was okay to bring Melody into her mother's room.
"Right now," I answer.
Her grin widens to where it is almost reaching her ears. "Yay!"
"Let's go Mel." I say giving her my hand for her to grab, we walk down the hall to her mothers room hand and hand, I reach my free hand up and gently knock on the door.
"Come in." Someone mumbles. I take a deep breath and open the door watching Micheal's eyes brim with tears at the sight of his beautiful daughter.
Michael...
My leg is bouncing up and down while I'm waiting for Halley to bring my daughter into the room, nerves are coursing through my veins because, I'm meeting my daughter for the first time ever. Who wouldn't be nervous? Really? "Michael calm down she'll love you, everyone loves you, and she loves everyone."
"Not everyone likes me." I argue.
"Name one person that doesn't like you."
"Halley hates my guts."
"Yeah well, you're her father she is going to love you."
Then there's a knock on the door. My throat goes dry, so Emily squeaks out a: "Come in", then the door opens slowly revealing Halley holding my little girls hand.
She's mine and she's perfect. Emily wasn't lying she looks a lot like me, she has dirty blonde/ blonde hair, shining green eyes, and a cute little button nose. She's absolutely perfect. The thought of this perfect little human being actually being mine brings tears to my eyes, literally, I'm biting back tears of joy.
