I wrapped my arms around my body as the rain pelted down. I stood between Sam and Paul as we stood at the forest line. We were waiting for Jacob before we started patrol, but it seems that Jacob is more occupied by Bella.

"Jacob!" I waved my hand in the air to catch Jacob's attentions as Sam called out for him.

"Is that Bella?" I squinted my eyes trying to make out the other figure that Jacob was talking to.

"He better not be telling her our secrets." I turned to Jared as he crossed his arms over his chest as Jacob ran towards us.

The boys ran ahead of me in the forest as I turned back to watch Bella leave. After I was sure Bella was gone I went ahead and joined the boys. In mid-run I phased so it would be easier to catch up with the pack.

"Bella's gone." I shook my head to shake the rain out of my bright ginger fur as it finally stopped raining.

"There's a vampire nearby." I turned to Jacob and gave him a nod before we ran off towards the meadow nearby where the scent of vampire was apparently coming from.

I stepped out of the forest line with my hackles up and my jowls lifted as I growled at Laurent. I remember him from last year, he was with James and Victoria.

"I don't believe it." Laurent stared at Sam for a moment before the rest of us pushed past the bush into view.

Laurent turned around and ran off with Sam, Paul, Jared, and Embry tailing him. I walked past Jacob as he stopped to look at Bella. Knowing that Sam would be angry if we feel behind I snapped at his back leg which got him moving quickly. The grass tore up under my large paws as I ran towards Laurent. Sam was thrown to the side landing in front of Bella when Laurent backhanded him.

I growled as I jumped at Laurent and bit down on his shoulder making sure to toss him around. Laurent grabbed me by the fur on the back of my neck and threw me into the trunk of a tree. I whimpered before slowly getting up and ran behind the pack as they chased Laurent deeper into the forest. We jumped, snarled, bit, and tossed Laurent before I got the hold on him and held him down by his shoulders and bit down over his head and ripped it off clean. I spat his head out before sitting down and licked my jowls.

"If he's in the area the ginger one will be around here." I stood up and looked at Sam as he nodded.

We burned Lauren's body before heading back to the Rez. Emily was quick to check me for injuries before lecturing Sam and I about being more careful

"If you were more careful then Alex wouldn't have that giant bruise on her back. What if it caused a spinal injury?" I looked down at my lap as Emily continued on.

"Emily, I'm going to end up hurt no matter what you say because I'm not going to stop protecting La Push." I stood up and hugged Emily before grabbing my cardigan and making my way to the shower, I stank.
