Joseph's POV

"It was me," We both say in unison, trying to cover for each other.

"No! It was me," I take a step forward with all the bravery I have left, "I started the fight."

"No- I started the fight, I did!" Thomas steps forward pushing me back.

"Thomas, no, I told the boys to join in," I raise my voice as the couple stare at us with confused looks.

"ENOUGH! Just say who it is! Don't make me lose my patience!" Xavier threatens, his voice booming around. I will be lying if I say Xavier is not scaring us because he is.

"Fine! I'll tell you what happened!" I say to them as Thomas' eyes lock with mine.

-(Flashback to the race night) -

"Thomas!!!! Take over thirty-three!" I shout into the earpiece as we storm through the highway. Over fifteen cars screech on the perilous rutted track, each other on its tail. Out of us five, Thomas is the farthest ahead; with Xavier being in fifth position, me in sixth, God knows where Charlie and Leo are.

Suddenly, number five hits the back wheel of my car, making me almost crash onto another car. I don't know what happened to Xavier and Leo these days; they always have finished the race within less than a minute.

"Mate! What the fuck, X!" I hear Leo curse from the speaker and I assume Xavier is way behind me since I am on fifth now. Right now, I am trying to take over fourth as Thomas challenges thirty-three whose driver is Jason.

"Told you! I am not in the mood for a race tonight!" Xavier growls out. Probably thinking about his Madalyne. Whipped.

I corner nine, causing the driver to hit the brake and slow down. I show him the middle finger as I take over and target the car in the third place. We hear the final call for the end of the finish lap which is less than a mile away.

"He is damn fast!" Thomas's voice booms through. Fuck! I didn't believe Jason when he said that this is his first time in any race. Thomas introduced him to this world and he is already an expert at it. I don't understand why Thomas is friends with this bastard.

Howl of cheers echoes throughout the whole area when Jason passes the finish line, "JASON! JASON! JASON! JASON!........."

"Fuck! I can't believe this!" I slam the car door as I head towards the guys. Jason is trapped with people swarming around him, congratulating him.

"Whatever," Xavier rolls his eyes, not giving a shit about what is happening in front of him. After a while, a few boys approach us. They definitely don't go to Cambridge. Must be college boys.

"Don't they go to Trinity?" Charlie, who probably knows every single person in Cambridge, observes them with narrow eyes. Smirk is plastered on their faces and soon afterwards they break into fits of laughter.

"I don't have time for this shit," Xavier rolls his eyes and walks off to his car and drives away from the event. We turn to look at them with an uninterested and calm gesture until one of them drops the bomb.

"How does it feel to lose, eh?" The boy with the curly hair teases us, with at least under a height of five feet and eight inches.

"Race me, I'll show you how it feels!" Charlie grits his teeth and hisses at the kids.

"Aww! Someone is upset......," Another boy, wearing a Nike cap, pouts then lets out a laugh as his friends join him. They are getting on my nerves right now.
