~Third person POV~
Nezuko had fallen asleep so Tanjiro had put her back into her box and waited for Urokodaki to do or say something. Hoshi waited patiently as well. It's was light out now so they wouldn't run into any more demons for a while. "Follow me. And keep up" Urokodaki suddenly said as he began running quickly up the mountain. 'So fast.. but he's so old!!' Tanjiro thought. 'I can't hear his footsteps..' Hoshi thought. They both snapped out of their thoughts and started running following the old man.

They had been running for what felt like days, when in reality it was only about an hour. So far Hoshi was keeping up pretty well. He had never been the athletic type so it suprised him when he easily caught up to Urokodaki with light footsteps. Tanjiro on the other hand was panting loudly and his heavy footsteps were getting slower and slower. Hoshi felt bad so he slowed down to match Tanjiro's pace. Tanjiro was suprised for a bit before kindly smiling at him. Hoshi lightly smiled back as he then started to take the box Nezuko was in off Tanjiro and put it on his back. "E-ehh! Hoshi it's heavy. Please don't worry about me!!" Tanjiro shrieked worriedly. Hoshi smiled and shook his head as he went and ran ahead again, though the box was slowing him down a bit.

Eventually the boys and the old man arrived at a house that was near the top of mount Sagiri. Tanjiro put his hands on his knees and he panted slowly while Hoshi sat down on the ground slightly panting. "So.. did we.. pass the .. test?" Tanjiro asked between breaths. Urokodaki turned away and headed into the house with Nezuko in her box and came back out a few seconds after. "Not yet. We will climb a mountain." Urokodaki said nonchalantly as he walked towards a path that went up. Hoshi and Tanjiro sat in place with shocked expressions but soon after quickly followed Urokodaki up the mountain.

The higher they got the harder it was to breath. It's was dark now so demons could roam freely. The air was thinner up there so it was hard to climb. Hoshi suddenly noticed that taking in deep slow breaths helped him breath and soon found himself breathing normally, though it didn't look like Tanjiro
had noticed a good way to save his breath. Suddenly Urokodaki stopped and spoke. "You both will decend the mountain. If you get to the bottom before sunrise then I will take you in as my students. Good luck." And at that he vanished into the mist, thought Hoshi saw his yellow aura speed quickly through the mountains. He had noticed that this 6th scent was getting more keen and accurate the more he used it. Hoshi had a feeling it would come in handy later on. "Decend the mountain? That seems easy right?" Tanjiro said speaking his thoughts out loud. "Too easy.." Hoshi spoke softly, but with a warning tone in his voice. They looked at each other and nodded, running down the mountain. Hoshi was faster so he easily ran ahead of Tanjiro. He had a feeling that there was a catch. The test wouldn't be this easy. Suddenly Hoshi's foot tripped over a rope tied between two trees, and rocks came flying out towards him. Quickly thinking Hoshi just managed to dodge the rocks as he did a one handed cartwheel over the rest of the rope and continued running down. He kept avoiding the traps, hoping Tanjiro was having success with them too. He soon saw the opening of trees and the lights of Urokodaki's house.

Hoshi got out of the forest and into the clear field. The moon was full tonight and it shone over the trees. Hoshi looked up at the sky and stood there mesmerized at the stars in the sky. A shooting star flew by and Hoshi made a wish, hoping that he and Tanjiro would make it past this test. Seeing the sky and stars gave him some sort of comfort and strength. It made Hoshi feel powerful. He then snapped out of his daze and walked towards the front of the home, sliding open the shoji doors. Urokodaki looked slightly suprised to see Hoshi so early in the night. Hoshi had no real cuts, just some dirt spread a bit on his haori. Urokodaki motioned Hoshi inside and gave him a change of clothes so he could wash Hoshi's. Hoshi changed into the big loose kimono, since he was a bit on the more petite side. He then sat down across from Urokodaki as he served himself some food in a bowl the old man had gave him before clasping his hands together and closing his eyes before beginning to eat. It was almost morning when the shoji doors slammed open getting the attention of the two males sitting silently in the room. They looked over to the door to see Tanjiro. With some cuts and bruises and dirt all over. Urokodaki looked out the door passed Tanjiro to see it still dark outside, meaning Tanjiro too, had passed the test. Tanjiro slowly walked in a flopped down onto the cushion that was on the floor at the table. Urokodaki poured some food into a bowl and gave it to Tanjiro for him to eat while also giving him a change of clothes. "Congratulations.. you have both passed the test. I will now take you in and train you to become a slayer. But remember, this is going to be hard. I won't go easy on you because your young." Urokodaki said coldly as he got up and went towards his room. "I Set up mats in the spare bedroom that Nezuko's sleeping in. You can sleep there." He stated as he left from the boys sight. Tanjiro looked at Hoshi's small form as he ate. "I'm.. glad that you passed." Hoshi said, not too sure how to compliment Tanjiro. Tanjiro smiled at Hoshi before going to change into the extra kimono Urokodaki had gave him.
