~Chapter 8~ First Mission 2

                                ~Hoshi's POV~
Once me and Tanjiro got to the small town we both immediately knew something was off. The town seemed, well dead. We were here because young girls had been going missing so when I looked around as the sun was setting all the young woman were going inside and locking their doors. I looked at Tanjiro and nodded as we both walked further into the town. There were some older villagers talking when somebody bumped into me.

"Ah- sorry about that..." An empty voice said. Then the male who bumped into me continued to walk on, slightly wobbling every few steps. The boy looked like he hadn't slept properly or eaten well in a few days. He also had a nasty bruise on his cheek.

"Wow, Kazumi looks awful. Poor thing." A villager suddenly spoke up looking at the boy who bumped into me who was now known as Kazumi. "Yea, I mean he was with Sakoto when she was taken." Another villager added on looking at Kazumi-san with pity. That was all I needed to hear as I looked at Tanjiro. He seemed to get what I was thinking and ran to Kazumi with me following behind.

"Kazumi-san!!" Tanjiro yelled out to him as we both caught up to him. "Kazumi-san, may we please speak with you?" I asked politely as I looked up at him from behind Tanjiro. You know, just in case.. yea. Anyway...... Kazumi stopped and looked at me then at Tanjiro with dead eyes.

"Kazumi, can you please tell us where Satoko-san was when she went missing." Tanjiro asked, more like demanded. Kazumi was shocked but quietly nodded and told us to follow him.

"This is where Satoko was taken, you probably don't believe me.." Kazumi said. I looked at him with pity while Tanjiro looked intensely at where he was pointing. "We believe you Kazumi-san!" Tanjiro said as I nodded. Tanjiro then got down onto the ground like a dog and started.. sniffing. Kazumi looked confused and weirded out and I don't blame him.

"Eheh... yea." I laughed an awkward laugh and glanced and Kazumi then to Tanjiro.

                      ~Third person POV~
"Listen, it's a waste of time doing this and it's getting late anyway. Can't we just continue this tomorrow?" Kazumi asked looking at the two males. "No, they'll only come out in the night, so we have to do this now." Tanjiro said getting up and dusting off his pants and hands. Hoshi nodded but then caught sight of something.

"Tanjiro-kun .. I think it's time, I saw something." Hoshi said, raising his voice so Tanjiro could hear. Tanjiro nodded but then caught scent of something. A terrible smell. He looked at Hoshi and Hoshi seemed to understand and jumped up onto a roof of a house and continued jumping across the houses at a fast pace towards the demon they had sensed.

"Hold on Kazumi-san!!" Tanjiro said and then picked up Kazumi bridle style and continued the way Hoshi went, slowing down slightly since he didn't want to dizzy Kazumi.

~ Somewhere in the village~
"Good night okaa-san!!" A young girl called out to her mother. "Good night sweetie, be careful and go straight to bed okay?" The mother told her daughter as she smiled. "Yes okaa-san!" She said and continued to her room.

The young girl slipped off her kimono and got in bed, slowly drifting off to sleep. Slowly, a black oil like liquid started puddling under the young girl as she slept. It soon got so big it surround her fully. Then quickly two veiny clawed hands shot out of the odd puddle and grabbed the young girl. The girl woke up and tried to scream but it immediately got muffled as the demon put one hand on her mouth, the other on her stomach as it then pulled the girl down under into the liquid. Then the liquid slowly disappeared until all that was left was an empty room.

~With Tanjiro and Hoshi~
Hoshi landed first on a small street that was being lit up by street lights. It was a clear space making it good for fighting. Tanjiro landed with Kazumi soon after and put Kazumi down in an alleyway.
"Stay here ok? And be safe." Tanjiro commanded Kazumi and he nodded. Tanjiro then went to where Hoshi was and sniffed. Hoshi looked at Kazumi and told Tanjiro he would protect the older male while Tanjiro fought. Tanjiro then readied his sword and the suddenly stabbed the ground below him. Suddenly the same oil like liquid started seeping through the hole. Then a young girl floated up the the opening of the hole as Tanjiro grabbed her and jumped back as a demon shot out. The demon had pale grey skin and pure red eyes with no pupils. It had long purple hair and veins popping out of its hands and face. The demon that claimed he was a male had long sharp nails, a sharp horn on his forehead and sharp jagged teeth.
