Chapter 2

I went to my assigned room and section. I checked my phone again to see if the room number on my schedule is correct.

I politely asked someone if this is the right section and room. He nodded briefly. I quickly searched for a vacant seat to get myself settled.

The room was air-conditioned, though.

After minutes of waiting, dumating na yung prof namin para sa first subject. Financial Accounting and Reporting Part 1 or FAR1 is our first subject.

Probably his name and the subject he's going to discuss. Then, he turned around to face us and spoke.

"Good morning class! My name is Mr. Reyes and I will be your professor for Financial Accounting and Reporting Part 1 for this semester," he said delightfully.

He even mentioned his credentials to the whole class which made everyone wowed in unison. Hearing those from our professors or even from other people motivates us that someday we'll claim those too.

"Since college na kayo and I believe na may background naman kayo sa accounting, can someone explain or differentiate the meaning of accounting and counting?" tanong ng aming propesor.

Some were hesitant to raise their hand.

To break the tension, I voluntarily raised my hand.

"Ah, yes, Miss? Surname please," ang propesor sabay pinagkrus ang kanyang braso.

Tumayo ako. "Silverio po, Sir."

"Oh! Okay Miss Silverio, can you explain what is the difference between accounting and counting?"

I exhaled a bit. "Yes, Sir. The difference between accounting and counting is that accounting is simply the process of recording financial transactions while counting is the process of determining the quantity of a group or set."

We all shared the same thought about the question given by the professor.

"Thank you for answering the question and stating your answers as well! All your answers are correct, actually. But I did not expect all of you to be that serious while answering," he glanced every student in the room.

"Well, in my opinion, 'pag counting ay 'yung one, two, three. 'Pag accounting naman ay... a-one, a-two, a-three..." he laughed afterwards.

Nabalutan ng katahimikan ang silid.

"Gago, tumawa kayo. Baka mamaya magbigay ng tres n'yan, e!" rinig kong bulong ng isa kong kaklase.

They started to laugh awkwardly.

After the brief recitation, our professor discussed the syllabus for our subject. I attentively listened and even wrote some notes.
