As the sun rose, so did Margot. The rays of the early sun caressed her face as she woke up. For once in her life, she was grateful that she woke up early and decided to enjoy her morning on the balcony overlooking the vineyard. The smell was so familiar to her and dearly missed. She could stay there forever. Going down the stairs, towards the kitchen she was bathed in sunrays from the early May sun. she drank her morning coffee and decided to drive down to the village for some fresh bread. Putting on a green sundress, a white headband, and her white tennis shoes she headed out, but not without her sunglasses!
Again, she drove with the top down and sunglasses over her eyes while her hair was blown back. The small bakery where she went all the time with her grandfather was just around the corner from a small café that was family owned by friends of Vittoria. The sound of Dean Martin's voice could be heard from the café which ultimately made her sit down for some coffee and pastries. She is in Italy; coffee is always a good answer!
While waiting for the waiter to come and take her order, Margot looked around and saw the familiar posters, news articles and faces working behind the bar. The café was not full, two gentlemen were sitting inside while she was sat outside wanting to enjoy a cigarette with her coffee. Her book was tucked neatly under her forearm as she observed a group of young adults sitting on a table not far from her. A girl and three boys to be exact. The girl wore a short black skirt with a white top and a funky fedora, the blond boy was in a crazy printed button up with short sleeves and some jeans, the boy with gorgeous long black hear wore a shirt with some funky pants and lastly the guy with brown dough eyes and luscious chestnut locks wore a white wife beater and dress pants. Their attention was focused on their conversation that seemed tensed yet relaxed at the same time, but not for long due to the shriek of the wife of the owner that just took notice of who visited her café! "Margot? Is that really you? Stefano come over here! We have a special guest over here!" – the woman yelled for her husband while Margot got up to greet the woman with a soft smile and open arms.
The usual question and compliments followed; you look so much like a mixture of your dad and mom, how are your grandparents, look how grown up you look and so on. After getting her order and making their way to make it, Margot sat down red in the cheeks while the soft smile remained on her face. She noticed the stare of the group of young adults not far from her. The boys were just staring, while the girl had a smirk on her face and slowly got up to greet the new face that they have not seen in the village yet. "Hello there, Margot, is it?" – the girl approached Margot as she took her sunglasses off and greeted the girl with a shy smile giving her a confirmation that her name is indeed Margot. "Well, Margot, I am Victoria! And those are my friends over there. Are you new" – Victoria, questioned the girl? "Not really, I used to visit all the time with my grandad, but not for at least a few years. What about you? What leads you here?" – Margot replied. "We are renting out a house not far from the Poplicola vineyard if you know where that is. We are just here for work now." – Victoria explained. "Oh mon Dieu! You must be the new neighbours Vittoria mentioned. I live on the vineyard, for now at least!" – Margot beamed. "Well Margot I am glad I have a nice new neighbour to hang out with, the boys can be a handful. Hey, fellas come over!" – Victoria called over the group of boys she was with before. All three of them came with their chairs in their hands and scooted so all five of them can fit around the small circular table.
"So, these are Thomas, Ethan and Damiano. Fellas this is Margot, she's our new neighbour!" – Victoria introduced them while all three of them shook the girl's hand. From first looking at them, she could notice that they looked very different from each other, but still fit like a puzzle. Ethan seemed quiet, calm and collected and his hair was the best thing she has ever seen. Thomas was the shy and clumsy one, while Damiano radiated a charismatic confidence she rarely sees in people. The five of them continued their chat. "So, Margot, what brings you here to this small village outside of Rome? You could be anywhere in Italy?" – Damiano asked her. "Well, I am here to work just like you guys. I needed a change of scenery, and I always found this place inspiring when I visited with my grandparents. As much as I love Paris, it is too busy sometimes. Being in the countryside is much more relaxing." – she explained to him. He drank her every word, both keeping eye contact the whole time.
If someone was speaking to Margot, she always held eye contact, one of the many life lessons her dad has thought her. He always told her that the eyes are a window to a person's soul, if she wanted to know a person for who they were, all she had to do was observe the eyes. On the other hand, Damiano found her magnetic and wanted to pay as much detail to her face as he could, but what he was not prepared was that the received the same treatment from her back. Usually, women were shy and timid around him, trying to win him over with fake innocence, but there was something about Margot that he could not put his finger on. Her green eyes held the attention of his brown ones and would not let go, even when she would continue her conversation with Victoria or Ethan, he always had his eyes on her. There was something in her and he was starting to get frustrated from not knowing that that something is.
She told them about her Parisian life and her unusual adventures with her eccentric dad, how it was growing up for her and they shared with her their road to stardom while busking on the streets of Rome and their experience with winning the X Factor not long ago. She told them that she comes from a musical family and is a musician herself. Margot promised them to play something for them if they play something for her, as well! All while enjoying their coffee and pastries. The owners came to greet the young adults before they left, very happy and excited to know that Margot is back. The last time they saw her she was a small girl sun kissed from the huge amount of the day that she spend by the pool with her grandparents or at the beach with her father is he came to visit.
Being the gentleman that he is, Damiano paid for her drinks and pastry before all five of them continued to the bakery around corner. "Are you guys with a car? If not, I could give you a ride, you would just need to give me direction because I am not quite sure where you guys are staying." – Margot offered. The band was by foot because all of them were too tired in the morning to drive, so they decided to walk so they can wake up. Margot led them to her car and put her sunglasses on just before taking the top down, as always. The three boys were gushing about her car. "It is a birthday present from my dad for when I turned 18!" – Margot explained. "How old are you?" – Thomas asked. She looked young, she had this youthful yet old soul aura around her that made people second question themselves about her age. "I turned 19 not long ago! What about you guys" – She answered as all of them piled in the car; Margot was driving, Damiano was in the passenger seat and Victoria, Ethan and Thomas were piled in the back. "I am 19, as well! Victoria is 18, Ethan is 17 and Thomas is the youngest being 18!" – Damiano informed her as she gushed how young Thomas is, even though she was only two and a half years older than him.
The ride back was pleasant with small chat filling the air. Damiano directed Margot where to drive as they made it to their house not far from hers. It was in a similar style to her granddad's, just minus the miles of vines. "Listen Margot, we would love to have you over for dinner if you would like to come. Damiano is cooking and we always make extra food." – surprisingly, Ethan invited her. Being the extrovert, she is she just replied with "I'll bring the wine then!" – and drove off towards her own house. Ethan waved her off as he then walked inside with Victoria and Thomas ready to greet Chilli, while Damiano stared towards the road she just left on.
This was going to be an interesting couple of months, and he needed her by his side!
