Three weeks after Levi had first woken up, he was almost fully back to his old self. And by that, I meant that he was being annoyingly impatient. He constantly tried to get the doctors to discharge him from the hospital, or he would try to get up and walk around, completely ignoring his broken leg and ribs.

"Levi, I swear to god if I walk in here one more time to see you walking around without crutches, I'm going to break your other leg so you can't physically get up," Hanji snapped as she pushed Levi back into bed.

Levi made a 'tsk'-sound. "It's been long enough, I am going crazy here in this place."

"Levi," Hanji said. "You still pass out from time to time, you yourself know that your memory still isn't working properly. If you truly want to leave, we can't stop you, but it could be dangerous if you are left on your own."

Levi's face dropped. He knew all of that, and he hated it. When he woke up, we soon realized that Levi would sometimes forget parts of the day. The doctors said that Levi's memory would probably get back to normal eventually, but the concussion that was caused by the accident was still messing with his head. Levi tried not to show how much he hated forgetting, but I knew he did.

I hated it too. For a large part because after Levi had told me that he loved me, he had completely forgotten it by the time he woke up again. I hadn't brought it up. I didn't want to confuse him more, since bringing up topics he had forgotten about tended to do that. I was also worried that maybe he hadn't meant it. We hadn't been together that long, we had never even confirmed whether or not we were in a relationship, so it was probably too early. He was only half conscious when he said it, so I just assumed that he probably didn't know what he was saying.

Could I accept that? Yes.

Did it still hurt? Absolutely.

"Eren can take care of me," Levi said.

He looked at me, his eyes were begging me to help him out.

"Levi, you know I'd love to, but I still have a job, I still have two months of school to attend to."

"You can quit your job, I can pay for everything."

"I can't do that to Erwin."

Levi grimaced. Eventually, we had to tell him about Erwin's arm. As I expected, Levi blamed himself. And against our better wishes, Levi did not remember anything of what we told him when he was in his coma. Edwin was happy to come in and talk to Levi again. He said that it was easier to have the conversation now that he had technically already talked about it to Levi. After that, Levi did feel better about it, but I knew he still blamed himself.

"You know," Hanji said. "Erwin and I have hired someone to help around the house, for when I'm not there. He has helped Erwin a lot over the past few weeks. Maybe you could try that too."

Levi made a face. "You want me to hire somebody to come to my house. With the possibility of me completely forgetting about it."

"Your memory loss isn't that bad," I said. "And that way, you can go home. Isn't that what you want?"

"Exactly," Hanji chimed in. "I can give you the number of the company we hired, they'll send you only the best of the best."

Levi stayed quiet for a little while. "I'll think about it." Then he turned to me. "If I do this, you'll still be there, right?"

I smiled at him. "As often as I can."
