“So, mr. Ackerman, how old are you?”

“What makes you think you can ask that?” He said, but his face told me that he was just messing with me.

“I thought we were friends,” I said and I laughed.

Levi laughed too. His laugh was beautiful, soft and sweet.

“So we are are friends?” Levi said.

“I was hoping we were.”

Levi nodded. “Twenty two,” he said.

Just five years, we could make that work.

Wow, Eren, calm down, I thought to myself.

“And you?”

“Seventeen,” I answered.

“Ah, a high school kid.”

“I’m not a kid,” I said.

“Are you an adult then?”

“Well, no, but-”

“Then you are a kid,” Levi said and he laughed.

I pouted.

“How cute, but it isn’t working.”

I blushed when Levi called me cute. I realized that I was absolutely head over heals for this man I barely knew.

“Well, it doesn’t matter if I’m a kid, does it?”

“Well, it might make things a bit illegal, but I don’t care.”

My heart stopped. Did he really mean what I thought he meant?

“What?” I muttered.

Levi raised his eyebrows. “What?”

He was messing with me, I knew that.

“I- nothing, I just- nothing,” I stuttered.

“Say it, brat.”

“Do you want to go on a date with me?”

Levi stayed quiet.

“You don’t have to. I just thought-”

Levi placed his index finger against my lips to silence me.

“Yes, I would like to go on a date with you,” he said.

“Really?”

Levi nodded.

“Tomorrow evening?” I said. “We close at seven, so I can pick you up afterwards.”

“I’ll just wait here,” Levi said.

I nodded. “Yeah, okay.”

“I’ll see you tomorrow then,” Levi said and he stood up. “Could you-?”

He held up the book.

“Yeah, sure.”

I took the books from him, and one small moment, our fingers touched. It felt like a shock was sent through my body.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” I mumbled.

“I’m looking forward to it.”

And with those words, he walked away, and I went back to work.
