It was already half past one when I called levi again. I had already called six times, but it constantly went to voicemail. I waited, and then once again I heard Levi's voicemail. I sighed.

"Hey, it's me again. You should have been home two hours ago. If you're hanging out with Erwin, that's fine, but it would've been cool if you had called. Not that you really have to, I mean, it's not like we're going out or anything. Not really. Just- just call me back, okay? I'm worried."

I already knew that I was definitely not going to get naked for him anymore, at least not that night.

Fifteen minutes later I grabbed my phone again. I wasn't sure whether I should call him again. I was starting to get really worried. I was staring at my screen, my finger hovering above the "call" button. I was about to press it, when I suddenly got an incoming call. Hanji. Why would hanji call me at 1:45 am? Erwin had told me that Hanji would be working the nightshift, so what did she need from me?

I answered the call. "Hey Hanji, what's up?"

Hanji didn't answer, instead, she sobbed loudly.

"Hanji?" I said. "What's going on?"

I was starting to panic. Hanji never cried. I had only seen her cry when Erwin broke his thumb. He wasn't even hurt that bad, but Hanji had been crying for twenty minutes straight. Hanji only cried when Erwin was hurt. And Erwin was with Levi.

"Erwin..."

"What happened to Erwin?"

"There was another car- Lost control-"

Another sob.

"Levi couldn't-" Sob. "The cars-" Sob. "They crashed, Eren."

It felt like my heart stopped beating. I started to panic.

"Where are they now? How are they?"

"They're both in the OR. I'm not allowed in because it's too personal. Eren, please come here."

"I'll be right there, give me ten minutes."

"Be careful," Hanji said.

"Will be."

I decided that Levi probably wouldn't mind me stealing one of his cars. I went for the Volvo, as it looked the least expensive, though it was probably worth more than anything I'd ever own. I caught myself speeding numerous times on my way to the hospital, but I didn't really care. When I walked into the hospital, Hanji was already waiting for me.
She was still wearing her white coat. Her hair was a mess and her eyes were red. I gave her a big hug when I reached her, trying to calm both me and her down. At that point, I was also crying.

"When did all of this happen?"

"They have already been here for about 30 minutes now. The accident probably happened about 45 minutes before."

"So, that was about an hour and fifteen minutes ago."

"Or longer. They were almost in town, just 2 miles."

They were almost home. They had been one their way home, almost on time. Maybe Levi was about to call me, to let me know that he wouldn't be long. Maybe.

After both of us had stopped crying, Hanji took me to the waiting room closest to the OR. She gestured for me to sit down, and then she went to talk to a nurse. After a couple of minutes she came back to me.

"Erwin is still in the OR. The nurse couldn't really tell me what was going on, so we're going to have to wait for a doctor, but he said that there was a high chance Erwin is going to make it."

"That's good. And Levi?"

"He is out of the OR. He had broken some bones in his body, and he had a class shart stuck in his neck and they were afraid it had done some damage, but it hadn't. So that's good."

Hanji paused, and I knew something else was going on.

"What's the bad news?" I asked.

"Levi is in a coma."
