PROLOGUE

Tinapik ko ang balikat ni Ion Guevara na First officer ng navigation ng cruise saka tumalikod. Navigation is the officer of the watch (OOW). Pumunta ako sa pinakalikod para tingnan silang lahat. Nakatayo habang ang kamay ay nasa panga ko.

So I started my class...maritime degree at the age of 21, it took four years and then I also attend classes of 10 years until I became a captain. I admit, this job was so hard and have to focus.

I even have to stay away from my family and friends since I started my marine degree. Pero kahit ganoon... Kahit na hindi kami magkasama araw-araw ay may bonding parin kaming magpapamilya.

Nilapitan ko si deputy captain/captain staff Kino Guevara. Ion and Kino were twins and they're like friends to me too. "Ikaw na bahala rito." Sabi ko.

Tumingin siya sa akin saka ngumiti. "Damn Capt. Don't you trust me, huh?"

I shook my head while smiling and he pouted. He's really childish sometimes.

"Rest time?" He asked me.

"Yes Captain."

"Okay." He said before he darted his gaze infront of him. I looked at the computers infront of us before looking at the window infront of us. I nodded before walking away. I walked outside the bridge (typically located in the bow, where the captain and crew control and manage the vessel).

I closed my eyes. Savoring the smell of the fresh air and hearing the purl of the ocean. But my forehead knitted after hearing a soft sob.

Napadilat ako saka luminga. And there...my eyes darted on a girl whose wearing an crop top-shirt, I know that because my little sister wearing those, and she had this short shorts. And I hate those clothes because it's too showy.

Nakatalikod siya mula sa akin at kitang-kita ko ang makinis niyang bala--- I made a face... Let me remind myself that I have this vow: no girls, stay single.

Nang tumingin uli ako sa kung saan siya nakatayo ay may ibinato siyang maliit na bagay sa dagat and then she wiped something on her eyes.

Mas lalong kumunot ang noo ko nang napasigaw siya at saka pumatong sa railings. Tumingin ako sa posisyon niya at ganoon nalang ang inis ko dahil pinagkakatinginan siya ng ibang lalaki.

Wala akong pag-aalinlangang lumapit sakanya. Nang nasa harapan ko siya ay nakatingin siya sa baba habang umiiyak, malakas ang iyak.

"Mama!" She even shouted while crying so hard. Nagpapadyak pa.

I cleared my throat. Pinagkakatinginan na siya ng mga pasahero.

"Huhuhu!"

"Miss..."

"Ayyy!" Mabilis pa sa alas kuwatrong gumalaw ang katawan ko at hinawakan at pinangko dahil kamuntikan na siyang mahulog sa dagat kung hindi ko agad siya kinuha.

Tumingin ako sa mukha niya. Mugtong-mugto ang mga mata niya saka ang putla-putla ng ilong at pisngi niya.

Nakayakap siya sa batok ko habang nakaawang ang labing nakatingin sa akin. I can hear her heart beat. Dahil siguro sa takot niya na baka mahulog ng tuluyan.

"Oh..." Aniya saka inalis ang kamay na nakayakap mula sa batok ko saka ko siya ibinaba. Tumayo siya at saka umatras sa akin. She wiped her tears and then she fixed her hair. "Uhm---"

"Miss... You do know that you're in this public place, where there's so many people?..." Akma siyang magsasalita nang inunahan ko siya. "You're noisy and please kung ano man iyang pinagdradramahan mo, you better do it inside your room." Mahina kong sabi para hindi pakinggan ng ibang tao.

Kinagat niya ang labi niya. "S-sorry C-captain... I- I..."

Itinaas ko ang kamay ko nang makita kong lumalapit sa amin ang isang Deck Department Senior Watchkeeping Officer.

"Captain sorry about that... We did not secured miss. It will not happen again."

I nodded. "Good. Now go back to your work and let me deal with miss." Sabi ko. Kahit na hindi ko ito trabaho ay may malasakit ako sa kapwa kong tao.

Tumingin ako sakanya at nakayuko siya, nilalaro-laro ang kamay.

"Miss, are you okay?" I asked her. She looked up at me and then she nodded. "Are you sure?" She again nod her head. I sighed. "Okay. Make sure that you're okay." Tumango siya. "And please keep safe especially on this deck. You might fall down." Ani ko. Tumango siya habang nakayuko. While looking at her, I remember Brylle, my little sister. Para siyang iyong nakababatang kapatid naming mga Hutton kung pinagsasabihan.

I patted her head before turning around. But before I could go inside the bridge...

She softly muttered: "Thank you." That made me stop from walking. I smiled at myself before walking inside the bridge, where we work. I need to be there to watch or monitor my comrades.
