We had just reached Lucerne when the driver announced our arrival.

The town looked like something out of a painting—cobbled streets, medieval buildings, and a quiet charm that made everything feel timeless.

“Drive to Kriens, Please.” I instructed, settling back into my seat.

Before the driver could even respond, Naira leaned forward, pointing across the road. “Can we go by bus?”

I followed her gaze. A public bus stood on the opposite side.

We had a car. With a driver.

“Have you never travelled on a public bus?” she asked, noticing my hesitation.

“Nope,” I admitted honestly. I never had to.

“Then we are going for sure! Come on.”

Before I could protest, she was already out of the car, darting across the street.

“Naira!” I called, but she didn’t stop.

I sighed, rubbing my forehead before telling the driver to leave. Of course this was happening.

“Kartik, come fast!” she shouted, waving from the steps of the bus.

The bus had already begun to move, forcing me to jog and climb aboard in a hurry.

The things this girl makes me do.

We found seats beside each other. I shot her an annoyed look, but she only laughed it off, completely unbothered.

The ride to Kriens took barely ten minutes. When we arrived, our guide was already there, along with five other couples. She had refused a private guide, refused security, refused everything that set us apart. She wanted this trip to feel normal.

Whatever that meant.

Among the many things I’ve learned about my wife, one stands out the most—her stubbornness. And somehow, I always end up giving in… just for her.

“Hello, I am Matteo Miller. You can call me Matt. I’ll be your guide for today.”

He was tall, confident, and carried an easy charm that made people warm up to him instantly. A native of swiss, he had an Italian accent.

“I’m Kartik,” I said, shaking his hand. “And this is my wife.”

“Hi, I’m Naira.” With a grin that I declare as far too friendly, he pulled her into a quick hug.

What the hell!

“We’re going to have a great time,” he said, flashing her another smile. “I’ll make sure of it.”
Naira nodded excitedly.

I instinctively pulled her closer to me as he moved on to address the rest of the group.

“ I don't think he’s a good choice for a guide?” I muttered near her ear.
