Ch. 1 The Preface

It is early in the morning on at Forks, Washington. A seventeen-year-old 5'5" female with long dark brown hair and chocolate brown-eyed named Bella Swan carefully enters her home with her father, a forty-year-old 6'0" male with curly dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes called Charlie Swan. 

" Bella. You are aware of our arrangements, correct?" Charlie asked while closing and locking the door behind him. 

Bella nods her head in response, feeling guilty since she broke her father's heart by saying those horrible words to him since her mother did the same thing to him when she was a baby. But, all she wanted to do was protect him from James' wrath. 

" Yeah. I am grounded until I get better," Bella softly responded while looking down at herself. 

Bella could not help but feel unattractive since she has stitches on her right cheek where James slapped her with his clawed fingernails. She also wore a black boot on her right leg, where he stepped on it and broke it, and she has a cast in a sling over her right shoulder where James had broken her arm and bitten her. 

Even though her boyfriend, Edward Cullen, took all of James' venom out of her system that evening. Bella could not help but feel scared for her life. She felt helpless and vaguely remembered Edward nearly draining her blood until Carlisle stopped him due to her heart about to give out. 

' His eyes. They were similar to James. Even though Edward's eyes are golden, they seem animalistic,' Bella worriedly tells herself. 

In the beginning, all Bella wanted was to become a vampire and be with Edward for all eternity since he was the only person that showed her love and affection. But now, she wonders if it is worth losing her life and being a vampire. 

Charlie's gaze softened when he sees Bella with a conflicting and tired expression. 

" Head to your room and rest," Charlie whispered while lovingly kissing Bella's forehead. 

Bella nods her head in response as she turns around, and she carefully walks up the stairs to her bedroom. 

Charlie stood there as he silently watched Bella walk up the stairs to her bedroom. His chocolate brown eyes saddened, feeling scared since he nearly lost his only daughter when he heard from Carlisle that she got into an accident on her way to Phoenix. 

' That fucking bastard,' Charlie angrily cursed when he recalled Bella mentioning that she was leaving Forks because of Edward. 

' I cannot let that kid anywhere near Bella. I do not want to risk him hurting her,' Charlie firmly tells himself as he glanced at the home phone. 

' I want to take care of Bella, but I know I will be so busy with work,' Charlie worriedly tells himself while biting his lips. 

' So, I might as well send Bella to Billy at the La Push Reservation because I do not want her to be alone with that so-called boyfriend of her,' Charlie bitterly tells himself while walking up to the home phone. 

' All I want is for Bella to be safe, and I know Billy and Jacob would take good care of her for me,' Charlie grabs the home phone, and he dials Billy's home line. 

At Black's residence in the Quileute tribe in the La Push Reservation, forty-two-year-old black-haired and dark brown-eyed Billy Black is happily watching a movie in the living room. 

" Hey, Dad. What are you watching?" Billy's son, fifteen-year-old black-haired and dark brown-eyed Jacob Black, asked while entering the living room from his bedroom. 

" It's a horror-comedy movie called Scary Movie," Billy informs Jacob. 

Jacob raised an eyebrow, feeling surprised that Billy is into horror movies.
