Anaya POV:
How does he expect me to not fall for him or to stay away from him when he says things like that? Clearing my throat, I focused my attention to the task at hand. Wiping the blood off his cut, I started applying some medicine on it.
Caden didn't even wince or flinch in pain. He just sat there, looking at me. Makes me wonder how used to pain he really was.
It was quiet. The only sound that could be heard was the pattering of the rain outside and the movement I made while tending to his wound.
Sneaking a glance at Caden, he was lost in thought, starring at the floor. After wrapping white gauze around his cut and making sure he wasn't bleeding anymore, I got up. That snapped Caden's eyes to me and then at his cut.
Furrowing my brows at the cut on his lip, I reached over to trace my finger over it. There was some dried up blood on his lip. Taking a fresh wipe from the kit, I bent a little so my face was in level with Caden. Running my gaze all over his face, I bit my lip as his eyes darkened. Bringing the wipe to his lip, I gently brushed it over his cut. My face was inches away from his as I worked on his lip. Once I was done, I let my finger hover over his lip for a second longer before straightening myself up.
Busying myself, I cleared the first aid kit and put it back in the cabinet before washing my hands. I could feel my body heating up from the intensity of Caden's stare. Looking at him through the mirror in front of me, his eyes were already on me. Quickly dropping my gaze, I turned around and leaned my hip against the counter.
"How did you manage to get on my balcony?" There was no ladder on my balcony so I was curious to know how he'd come up. Caden was staring at the blood on his hands when he looked over at me and smirked.
"I have my ways." Giving him a blank look, I pointed to the basin.
"Wash your hands, you got blood all over it." It was a simple sentence, but I should've known better. Caden flinched a little and dropped his gaze back to his hands, looking at the blood smeared over his palm.
"I know I have blood on my hands." He whispered, clenching his hands tightly. I heard it clearly. He was talking about that night. The double meaning behind it wasn't lost to me.
Sighing, I walked towards him and stood in front of him. Bending, I wrapped my fingers around his wrist and tugged, making him look up at me. His eyes were dark and his jaw was clenched tightly. Tugging again, Caden took the hint and stood up, his height towering over me. His slightly wet hair fell over his forehead and eyes through which he looked at me.
Pulling him over to the basin, I brought his hands under the tap before turning it on. Bringing my own hands over his, I scrubbed his palm gently using my fingers, washing the blood off of him. Caden was looking at me through the mirror. I could feel him. Once his hands were clean, I turned the tap off and picked up the hand towel from the hanger. Tugging his wrist to face me, I gently wiped his hands with the towel.
"Punishing yourself will not change the past." Looking up from our hands, I let my eyes meet his dark ones. He was studying me intently. "All we can do in the end is repent for the past mistakes and try to move on." I tightened my fingers around his. "Don't let the mistakes of your past haunt your present and your future." Whispering, I let his hand go with a final squeeze and took a step back.
"I'm not a good person Anaya." Caden all but whispered. Running his fingers though his hair, he bent to pick up his shirt from the floor. Realizing that he was leaving, I put my hand up blocking the door.
"Where will you go?" He obviously wasn't going home if had come over here in the first place and there was no way I was letting him go back to where he had come from in this condition.
