Killua looked at Gon with an incredulous expression, his jaw practically dragging on the ground. "Have you finally lost that last marble? I've never even been in the driver's seat of a car. What if I hit something or someone, and I completely total your truck? I-"

"You won't," Gon stated.

"How could you possibly know that?" Killua griped, throwing the keys back to Gon. Gon caught them in one hand and sighed.

"We're in a deserted parking lot with absolutely no cars and no pedestrians. There's nothing for you to hit, Killua. Not even if you tried," Gon offered.

"What if the police catch us and arrest you for enabling this, or they take away your license?" Killua refuted, throwing his hands up in exasperation.

"It's late, and honestly, the police have way more important things to deal with in a city like this. They're not gonna be concerned with two twenty-two-year-old idiots driving around an abandoned parking lot," Gon pointed out. He walked over to Killua and put a supportive hand on his shoulder. "I trust you not to kill us if you're in the driver seat," He joked, dropping the keys into Killua's hands with a kind smile.

Killua looked at him nervously. "I dunno if that's the right decision. If I destroy your car, don't sue me for damages."

Gon crossed his heart with his index finger twice, making an imaginary X over his chest. "I promise I won't sue you if you body my car. But please, try not to," He added with a laugh.

Killua shoved him lightly in the chest and scoffed. "You're giving me the keys, knowing full well I have zero experience. Whatever happens to your car is your fault," Killua mused.

"Fair enough," Gon laughed. "Well, are we gonna stand here all night, or are you gonna go get in the driver's seat?"

Killua let out a listless groan. "Fine. If you're so hellbent on an early death, I guess I'll try it out," He griped, walking around to the other side of the car.

"Yes!" Gon cheered, hopping into the passenger seat after Killua unlocked the car. Killua climbed into the driver's seat, not needing to adjust any of the settings since they were around the same height.

Gon walked him through the car's vital parts- the mirrors, blinkers, headlights and high beams, gas and brake pedals, stick shift, speedometer, and other critical elements. Now it was Killua who looked like his head was gonna explode.

"Okay, first, insert the key in the ignition," Gon said, pointing to the metallic slot in the car designed for the keys. Killua followed his directions. "Now, keep your foot on the brake and turn the key to the right until you hear the car start," He instructed. Killua nodded and did as he was told, smiling as the car sparked to life.

"That's a good start," Gon smiled supportively. "Okay, now, keep your foot on the brake, and shift the car into drive," He directed.

Killua looked around for a moment before his eyes settled on the stick shift, and he pulled it from the top, labeled P, to the bottom, labeled D. "Like that?" He asked, looking at Gon nervously.

"Mhm, just like that," Gon replied, nodding his head with a smile. "Okay, now, just take your foot off the brake a little."

"Is the car gonna move?" Killua shrieked, looking at Gon with dread in his eyes.

"That is how a car works, yes," Gon said, trying his best to stifle his laughter. He'd never seen Killua this flustered before.

Killua socked him in the arm, making Gon release his laughter. "You wanted to teach me how to drive, don't make fun of your students," He growled.
