Gon sat on the couch, mindlessly flipping through channels on the television. It was sometime around ten am. The early morning sun was drifting in through the windows. It fell on Gon's skin, warming him in a soft, pleasant way.
Kurapika and Leorio had left him another note this morning reading:
Gon,
We're off to work again- be back
around 3. Don't burn the apartment down
and let us know if you go somewhere.
See you later, kiddo
- K&LHe'd been kind of dejected when he read their note. Of course, they had both graduated college and worked typical jobs like the semi-responsible adults they were. But he missed having them around, even if he and Kurapika weren't on the best terms. Gon would rather be in bad company than be all alone. He couldn't take isolation and silence, especially as of late.
Gon had been absorbed in his thoughts, clicking through the channels on the TV but paying zero attention to what he saw. He brought himself out of his thoughts, focusing on trying to find something to watch.
In the midst of channel-surfing, Gon stumbled upon some romance show. He wanted to change the channel; he hated romantic shows and movies. But he became lulled by their words, unable to change it.
"Abby, I still love you."
"W-what do you mean, Jake?"
"You're the light of my life and my biggest source of happiness. I miss your laugh, I miss your smile, I miss everything about you. I love you."
"You broke my heart."
"I know. I know that. And I'm so sorry. I'll never forgive myself for doing that to you. But I can't live without you- I need you. And I'm sorry it took so long for me to realize. Please, come back to me."
"You left me, not the other way around. Don't make it sound like I deserted you when you needed me. No. That's what you did."
"Abby, please. I'm sorry. I love you so much."
"I... I love you too. But it doesn't mean I'm still not furious with you."
"So, will you take me back? Please, Abs?"
"I-"
Gon quickly shut off the TV altogether. His breathing had sped up, and his eyes stung with pooling tears and the cold air of the apartment. So many thoughts were racing through his head. He missed Retz- so much more than he wanted to. She broke his heart in the worst, coldest way- with no explanation after two fucking years. He missed her laugh, the way she saw the world, always being around her. What did he do wrong? Why wasn't he enough for her?
He felt lightheaded, like there was an unbearable tension in his mind created by his runaway thoughts. He felt uncomfortable in his own skin- like he needed to get up and move. He quite literally felt the need to get up and run from his problems. And he knew just where he was going to run to.
"Killua!" Gon yelled, knocking multiple times. He berated the door harder and louder, just wanting Killua to open the door. "Killua!" He called again, giving the entire floor of apartments a personal earthquake from his incessant knocking. "KILLU-" The door swung open furiously, revealing a very disheveled Killua.
"Oh, good morning!" Gon chirped in a happy tone and smiled sweetly at the person in front of him.
"What the fuck do you want?" Killua growled in a low, groggy tone. His white hair was a mess, sticking out in every way. His long, black sweatpants went well past his feet, and his t-shirt was on backward, obviously thrown on in a hurry. It was clear Gon had just woken him up.
