I shook awake to my alarm clock, sweat dripping down my back and forehead "Gross" I think out loud.
I had another nightmare. Usually it's about that stupid fucking clown.
But last night my dream was different.
——-
Max and I are sitting on my bed, staring at each other. We were reading through magazines, but now we just sit here, talking "Alex, you're so pretty" Max says with a grin. I blush and smile a little."Max, we can't. What if people find out? You know what they'll do" I reply in a whisper.
"They can't pull us apart from each other" she cups my cheek with her hand. I stare into her eyes. Her big, blue eyes. My eyes trail to her beautiful lips. I lean in just a bit, and she copies my actions. We do this until our noses are brushing up against each other.
Before I can lean in any farther, Mike and the rest of his friends storm in.
"Hah! We knew it! We knew you were a disgusting gay!" Mike screams into my ear.
"How could you? She's my girlfriend! You know that. You're a terrible person. Go to hell." Lucas says while pulling Max off the bed.
"Yeah, what's wrong with you?" Dustin yells. Why are they acting like this? I thought they were nice.
"Don't come near me again!" Max says. Pain pierces through my skin. Did she really just say that?
Will stands by my bed quietly. He glances at me with a look of disgust before looking away.
They all storm out of my room, leaving me to sob alone on my bed.
——-
I sigh. Thank god that wasn't real. But maybe it was a sign. Maybe it was a sign that I shouldn't think Max is pretty, and sure as hell shouldn't tell her. I already hate myself enough as it is. Adding raging lesbian to that list is not what I want.I slowly pick myself up out of bed. I follow my usual routine and pick out a green tank top and blue shorts. I pair it with an old grey jacket that I found at the bottom of one of my boxes.
I stroll into the kitchen to see my dad, sitting at the table with a coffee in one hand, and a newspaper in the other
"Morning dad"
"Morning. Hey do you mind getting breakfast at school? I'm going grocery shopping today. Don't have much food right now." My dad says without looking up.
"Sure thing" I grab my shoes and slip them on. I'm about to walk out the door when I hear my dad say something "What'd you say?"
"Where did you find that?" He had moved from his spot at the table to the door.
"Find what?" He points to the jacket I'm wearing "Uh, in one of my boxes. Why?"
He looks as if he's tearing up "Um, I don't want to see that jacket in this house, okay? When you're done wearing it today, throw it away" I look at him with a confused look before he continues to talk "Alex, if you don't throw that damn jacket away, you're fucking grounded, ya hear? Don't bring that god damn jacket back here."
I'm a little shocked at his word choice. Usually he isn't so mad in the morning. I gulp before I reply "Yeah dad. I'll throw it away. I promise."
He nods before walking away. I shut the door and head to my bike. What is with this jacket? Maybe grey isn't my color?
I hear someone clear their throat, snapping me out of my thoughts. I look up to see Max, a little less than five feet away. Great, this is just what I needed this morning. The girl that I'm slowly falling fo- no I'm not!
