hey guys so i'm going to time skip to friday evening for this chapter because the chapter would be kinda boring if alex went to school the next day. i hope that's ok!

I step out of school, deep in conversation with Will. "So, you think you might like him?"

"I don't know. Yeah, I do like him, but I just feel so..icky." Will slaps his hand to his forehead "I can't believe I'm telling you this! I just thought you'd be okay with it because of your friends. Richie and Eddie?"

"Yeah. Will, there's nothing to worry about. I promise. Your secret is safe with me." I wrap my arm around his shoulder and give him an awkward hug.

Will gives me a weak smile before pointing to the bike rack "Everyone's waiting for us. We're all still going to your house to work on the project, right?"

"Yep" I reply "Let's go talk to Miiiikkeeeee" I stretch out his name only to annoy Will, and he hits me on the arm and rolls his eyes.

"Okay guys. Let's get going to Alex's house." Mike announces once we trudge over. Everyone grabs their bikes and we race to my house.

We all pull up to my driveway and park our bikes. "Guys, uh hold on. Let me make sure my dad isn't here" I tell the group. Most of them give me confused looks, but Max and Will nod understandingly.

My dad was supposed to leave for his trip tomorrow, but he told me he was going to leave early. Hopefully he actually did that, and didn't drink his thoughts away instead.

I open the back door and slip quietly into the house. I tip toe around trying to figure out where he could be if he was here.

When I'm positive that he actually did leave, I slip back out the door and sprint to the driveway "All clear!" I yell, clapping my hands together.

Everyone follows me into the (surprisingly) clean house. I show them all around until we get to my room.

"Okay, so this is my room. It's a little messy because I haven't really finished unpacking yet. Sorry." I say before opening the door.

"Dark green?" Max looks at me with her nose pinched into her face.

"That's all you can say?" I snap back, jokingly.

"Yeah, actually. That's all. Terrible color. Just terrible." Max says with a smirk, and with that, I passed out and died. Just kidding!

I cough, trying to cover the bashful smile forming at my lips. "Alright, should we get started?" I ask with a grin.

"Wait, what's this?" Will asks, holding up a mixtape.

"Oh! That's a mixtape that my friend Richie made back in Maine. You guys wanna listen to it while we work?" Before anyone answers, I grab the mixtape from Will, and slip it in my stereo. "Africa" By Toto starts to play.

"What is this song?" Dustin questions.

"It's called Africa" I reply before sitting myself down next to Max. I look over at Will and he's giving me a weird smirk so I shoot him a dirty look. He laughs a little and Lucas looks at him.

"What? What's funny?" Lucas asks, looking around with a confused look.

"Nothing!" Will and I immediately spit out at the same time. That makes the whole group laugh as Will and I just glance at eachother with relief.
