Ch.Fourteen
Audrey blinked once, twice then she narrowed her gaze towards Maddie.
"you mean to tell me Hana and our history teacher are together...as a couple?" Audrey smiled sarcastically. Maddie nodded furiously. She opened her arms wide and rambled vigorously, waving her hands.
Maddie had somehow calmed herself down and moved from the guest room towards Audrey's room, then woken her injured best friend from her peaceful slumber to declare her discoveries in the past few minutes. Audrey didn't believe her, much to Maddie's disappointment.
"Its true! She stood up on her tiptoes and suddenly kissed his cheeks! Out of nowhere! And Mr. Richard wasn't annoyed or anything he simply smiled, as though it was normal! And that is also acceptable since they both are vampires! Audrey trust me!" Maddie grimaced.
"Okay...but even if they are together, it's fine isn't it? They aren't bothering anybody. Just happy with each other, let them be. And you know how Hana is, tough and mean. If we tell her we know about them, she might feel offended. Plus, Mr. Richard can be fired from the university. We should keep it under wraps,Maddie." Audrey touched Maddie's arm comfortingly.
"That is right." Maddie huffed, she moved a little on the edge of the bed to make herself comfortable. As she did so, Audrey winced in pain. Maddie removed the blanket to widen her eyes at Audrey's leg. It was bandaged but still bleeding. The cloth tied to her arm was crimson in color.
"Does it hurt a lot?" Maddie asked, she noticed a few bandages on the desk near the table. She grabbed one and started undressing her friend's previous wounds with the new one. As carefully as she could.
" It doesn't anymore. But I'm still shook why such a deadly poison would be contained in items as simple as a hairpin?" Audrey said, she helped Maddie bandage her.
"I'm wondering too. And there were no stairs leading up to the top of the building, how was Amber there?" Maddie furrowed her eyebrows, "also the lady who served us this afternoon, she works in this manor, believe me she's strong. Super strong." Audrey laughed as Maddie said so.
"I tell you this is a weird family. We shouldn't be here, awful lot of surprises. " Audrey shook her head, her hair fell on her eyes.
The door opened suddenly, startling Audrey and Maddie. They both had guilty faces since they were discussing about the family right in their own houses. William entered in, holding a tray of food. It looked like it was dinner.
Maddie gulped, she was hungry. She hadn't eaten the food which Mrs. Terry had brought to her.
William smiled at Audrey then looked suprised at Maddie's presence here, he cleared his voice and said, " You were in the guest room?"
"I had to visit my friend." Maddie said as a matter of fact, "Besides her bandage needed a change."
"I figured so. I came to do that." William laid down the food on the desk beside Audrey.
"Why would you do that when you've got a house full of assistants?" Maddie laughed harshly, she was angry at the condition her friend was in.
"It has been done by my sister. On behalf of my sister, I'll take the blame and heal Audrey's injury. And. You're sitting on the bed, get down, it'll hurt your friend." William brought a chair near the bed and asked Maddie to sit down. He then brought a chair for himself and sat beside Audrey.
William held the tray of food in his lap, took a small portion of the food and held it in front of Audrey. He had the audacity to do that in front of Maddie, who yelled
"Excuse me? Who are you to Feed her when I, her best friend, am right here? Give me the spoon!" Maddie stomped her feet.
"Maddie! It's okay. Don't make a ruckus" Audrey said in a soft voice, she still didn't know where she was and feared to attract enough attention as it is. She hesitantly took a spoonful of whatever William was feeding her. Audrey gazed apologetically at Maddie who signaled its okay.
She took a few more bites from William, who patiently silently fed her.
" How's your wound now, does it pain?" He asked all of a sudden.
"Of course it does ,you thickhead! Look it's bleeding!" Maddie screamed, she was getting impatient.
Audrey chewed her food quickly before answering, "surprisingly it doesn't. The wound is still there but the pain is not." She looked confused at William, tilting her head to the side and narrowing her gaze.
William internally screamed at the sight. This was bad for his heart, he would go visit a cardiologist some time.
"It's not simply food. It's been made by our house herbalist. It heals wounds. You're welcome" He smiled, then giggled, then burst into a fit of laughter.
"Oh..thank you!" Audrey said, she couldn't help smiling. William's laugh was intoxicating, it spread throughout the room.
Maddie shook her head.
The door opened once again and in walked Amber and a few people behind her, they wore the clothes of a chef and held a few trays in each of their hands.
"Audrey, your meal is her-" she stopped mid sentence when she noticed her brother in the room. The said brother gave a guilty look as he raised the bowl slightly by which he was hand feeding Audrey.
" Why have you...but you said you would be going out somewhere, how come..." Amber stopped from her rambling, calmed herself down then spoke in a reprimanding tone, "William! You should've informed us! We've already cooked now and we don't-" Amber was interrupted as Maddie took the bowl from her hand and began devouring it, "I'm sorry I haven't eaten! Thanks to me, the food won't be wasted!"
Amber sighed, she waved the trail of cooks behind her, they obediently nodded and left. Amber saw the fond smile her brother wore as he looked towards Audrey who wiped her face with the tissue.
In the next second Amber dragged William by the collar with her and said, "Audrey I'm really sorry for the harm I caused you. Make sure to sleep well tonight and you'll be okay by tomorrow! And Maddie you can sleep beside Audrey today. Good night ladies." She said as she dragged William with her and closed the door.
The door opened the third time to reveal William who smiled so wide, it seemed his face would break, "Good night Audrey! Good night Maddie!" He then proceeded to cast a sincere smile towards Audrey. His eyes held such mirth, it made Audrey's face pink as she muttered a small Good night. Maddie continued devouring her food, who cares.
He closed the door and was dragged by Amber. They walked and walked till they reached the end of this floor and into the elevator.
The two siblings stood alone in the elevator as Amber pressed the button for the floor beneath Audrey's.
The elevator began moving and William had a smile plastered on his face all along. His smile was completely wiped off when he turned towards his sister who had an evil smirk on her face as she said,
"You're really obvious in your liking towards her"
Damn, William would make somebody fix a fan in the elevator tomorrow. His cheeks were flaming red due to the heat. Obviously the heat.
